Default BlackBerry makes national news

Please Login to Remove!

ABC news last night had a segment on Crackberry addicts. They said this was an addiction just as real as alcohol or drugs. Some guy on there wakes up at 2:00 in the morning just to see if he has any emails. One other guy can't get through a meal without checking 5 or 6 times to see if he has any emails.

Apparently there is a 12 step program to help break the addiction.

I've been slowly chopping pieces off my BB and smoking them, what a high. Think I'm gonna go sell my TV for my next fix...

Is the first step to the 12 step program to quit your job? That is why most people use a blackberry, for work.

Oh come on the world is moving toward being connected anywhere. These are probably the same people who talk on their Razor phones for hours on end. Then say we are crackberry addicts, because we have to check are work email. Gave me a break.... If it makes them feel better to say it's an addiction like drugs just because they don't know how to use a "crackberry" then let them keep talking. I haven't been pinned in a couple seconds pin me please i'm getting the shakes..............

Talking crack reporters

this is the "news" wanting to avoid spending money doing actual investigative journalism and instead running with a sensationalistic story that takes just about no legwork to execute, requires no proof to report on outside of a couple loons willing to say anything, and also is light on the budget.

Blackberries are like drugs? PIN me when someone is caught prostituting themselves to get emails faster or breaking into T-mo HQ and murdering someone to try and give themselves "priority" email access...whatever that means.

Here's what the newsroom probably sounded like:

News Chief: "...so our lead story will be on this cat who saved a boy and is now fighting obesity in America..."

beep of a blackberry...

Chief: "what's that?"

Reporter: "an email sir, it seems civil war has broken out in Mexico, over the voter fraud...."

Chief: "sure, but what's that device your holding?"

Reporter: "you mean my blackberry? You've never seen one before? I thought everyone has one?"

Other reporter: "crackberry you mean..."

Chief: "crackberry, like crack the drug?"

Staff: (laughing) "yeah"

Chief: "this is great! Push the cat story to number two tonight, we're running with the crackberry addiction."

Reporter: "addiction, sir?"

Chief: "Sure. Drugs are bad, right!? Blackberries are everywhere right!? People even call them "Crackberries", well what if we say blackberries really are like drugs!? What a story! No one with a blackberry will want miss it - they'll think, "what if it IS a drug, what if I'm an addict and I don't know it...man the nielson's will be off the charts!"

Reporter: "what about Mexico, sir?

Chief: "No time. we're running crackberry, then the miracle cat, then the Trashcan Bandit...you can cover Mexico in your closing minute."

thank god my blackberry has an RSS feed from real news sites :D

About two years ago I was in line at the municipal court waiting to pay a ticket and I noticed a hefty fellow pulling his Blackberry out of his holster. Ten seconds later he pulled it out agian. Ten seconds passed and he whipped it out again. This went on for about five minutes until his turn came up. I was bored before, but was now very amused by this. I began counting in between to see how long he could go without checking. His longest interval was a mere FORTY-FIVE seconds. He didnt have "the shakes", but he looked rather nervous.

One can be addicted to more or less anything.

Very few people have jobs that require them to check their email at frequent intervals 7x24.

Not everyone who drinks is an alcoholic. Not everyone with a BB is addicted to it, although I expect some people are.

My parents were on my case about that very segment, along with a similar one on Chinese language television. It is just so very fun to play with...
