I just got off the phone with RIM support and he said the engineers told him that they are going to have the ability to disable content protection on devices with 4.6 with BES server 4.1.6. Which the BOLD is the only model that has this version. He had no information on whether the other current handhelds that support 4.5 will get the new 4.6 in a later update.

You can reset the password on devices with Content Protection enabled as long as they are using device software v4.2.1 or higher. V4.2.0 or less is outta luck.

Not if the device is locked. It requires the handheld to be wiped if the user forgets their password. With your testing was the users handheld locked with content protection enabled? If so what version is your BES?

YES with content protection enabled. BES 4.1.6. When you Set Password and Lock Handheld from the BES, the user will see a different message on the screen depending on their device OS version. See attached screenies.

Prior to 4.1.5 it was a "known issue" that a password on a device with Content Protection could not be remotely reset without knowing the original password. (Goes for both Exchange and Domino)
