Default Phone on data off?

Please Login to Remove!

As far as I can tell, this isn't possible, correct? I'm taking a couple week vacation in Thailand in December, and I'd like to bring the 7100 as a PDA (to keep duplicates of my reservations and such) and also use it as an emergency phone. It's not clear to me how much data is pushed back and forth through the day and at 1.5 cents per k, it could add up. I was thinking of turning off my mail forwarding for the time being, leaving the wireless off unless I'm making a call. This would seem to minimize data usage.

Any better ideas? I'm also thinking of just getting a Thai prepay sim (about $4). As long as the phone is unlocked, it should work right? (no data though)

You could probably reset the firewall settings on the phone, then when it asks to connect to this or that, check deny all connections. Would that work?

From what I've heard, that feature will be available with the 4.0 handheld code. I've "solved" this problem temporarily by switching back to separate voice and data handhelds.

One simple way would be to turn the wireless off and leave it as such unless you need the phone.

Does anybody know when O/S 4.0 will be available for the 7100t?

Most likely when it's released for the rest of the platforms... I'm sure they're testing it on each. And 3.8 isn't THAT far from 4.0 in looks and functionality.
