Default Orange (UK) charging £35 for Blackberry APN service

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

I have got a prepaid Blackberry bold and I set up Blackberry professional software and asked Orange to enable service to send and receive email on Blackberry but I recieved the bill for £35 a month. I called them to ask why £35 they said I need enterprise data package for Blackberry and I cancelled it as I was only thinking I would pay £5 a month or so.
Is there a way around to connect my Blackberry server without paying £35.

Thanks

Nope,
£5 a month gives you the BIS service letting you use the RIM network to send and collect OWA, POP and IMAP emails.

The £35 a month (£28 on Vodafone and £65 on T-Mobile) gives you the added extra to be able to use the enterprise services.

No way round it. If you're a company you may be able to sweet talk the sales rep from Orange to give you a discount, but I don't fancy your chances.

nope.
If you use BPS you need the BES plan.
To use BIS would be £5

Default Blackberry service Charges

Let me get this clear I have to pay nearly £20 to £30 to use my own BES server. Is that right. I have spent good money to set up A server with Exchange 2003 and Blackberry Professional server plus firewall.
To use this server I have to pay lot of money every month as well.
It is too expensive to use it in my view.

Yep!

In all fairness though, should you not have done the research prior to paying any money out??

I was just thinking I would have to pay for GPRS and it would download my email. But I did not guess that I would have to pay so much money.

Thanks

Default Blackberry

I believe I can use Astrasync and it does exactly like BES or similar. I would download the trial and test it.

I have an orange package which is £30 pm and it includes BB email and also 500mb of GPRS access. I'm new to BBs and also the whole notion of mobile phones so I'm not up on the lingo, but would this not be a better option for you?

The OP may have a higher price plan for calls and texts, hence why it costs them £35.

Hi mate,

You are using BIS not Bes plan. Bes plan is expensive to use than BIS.

I hope it helps..
