I had a helluva time getting MM to be installed when installing Desktop Manager. I finally found a thread that said something about 4.2 w/SP1 to be the choice Desktop Manager version to use if you're using Outlook 2003. I installed 4.2w/SP1 and BOOM - I have MM. So now I'm reluctant to try and install 4.2 w/SP2 because I might lose MM again. Is there any way to edit the .alx file so that I can use my current javaloader to install this theme? Or is there a way to install the .cod file by running a command prompt javaloader?

Thanks!

I am just curious what is special about having the Verzion theme on the Curve. What is it about this theme that makes the Curve better (aesthetically pleasing)?

Well, partly (as with many of these things) the satisfaction comes in having "done it." As in, "look what I managed to put onto my phone." Aside from that, I actually like the VZN theme because of fonts, layout and, particularly, I like their icons.

First of all, John - Thank You VERY MUCH! You made this super simple, and the theme looks GREAT!!

However - is there a way to select which icons appear in the bottom "dock" - right now the first icon is setup wizard...i dont know why but I want to get rid of it, and flip some around - I hope this is possible!

EDIT: Such an easy fix...I searched in the forum and found the answer - If anyone else had the same questions it is very simple

1. From the Verizon Theme: press the blackberry button once to go to all the icons
2. Hover over the icon you want and press the blackberry key
3. choose the "move" option
4. move it to the first five spots all the way at the top
5. ALL DONE !

I have extracted this theme and created it's own .alx to go along with it. To install this theme to your 8800/8300 simply download the .zip file linked below and extract it to a folder on your PC somewhere that you won't delete. Then simply use the "add" feature in Desktop Manager/Application Loader and browse to the .alx file. This will put a checkbox in application loader that will load the new theme. Additionally, you can later remove the theme by simply unchecking the box, if desired.

This is an alternate method to editing the Blackberry.alx file as posted above and gets the same results except that with this method you get a checkbox in Application Laoder to install and uninstall.

Hope this helps....

I was using the T-Mobile Zen theme before as I liked the icons at the bottom of the screen but the Verizon theme looks so much nicer.

Just loaded it on mine; excellent, thanks John Clark.

The only downside to it is the huge red data transfer icon on the top-right rather than the usual tiny blue one. Oh well, still excellent.

Ok, new question! if this can be done for this theme, why not today plus. I theory the same steps would have to be taken right, or maybe I'm nuts???

That will load the theme to the theme to the device just fine. However, the theme was not written for the 8300 so it will not work.
