Default DANGER! New BB Desktop update deletes your calendar!

Please Login to Remove!

I have just installed v 1.0.3 of the Desktop for Mac software.

The previous version was working fine but this one has wiped all my calendar in iCal (fortunately everything is still on my BB) and now it wont sync it back.

Also get an error message when syncing contacts so that wont complete either.

Complete waste of space!

Wirelessly posted

I upgraded with no issues at all. Can you post specs? Also try another install. Software of every type are known for glitches.

I also updated and synced the other day when it came out and had no problems. The only thing I noticed is that it duplicated some of my entries, but definitely didn't delete, and have since synced with no problems at all.

My mass storage support no longer works. When I try to transfer files, I continue to get the error that the "disk was not ejected properly". Tried two different microSD cards, same problem with each.

Anyone know where I can find a previous version of the software? Can't seem to locate it on google and I never had this problem before.

thanks.

Default happened to me too

well. kinda. My calendar entries were duplicated and then some of the more recent entries were deleted. I thought I was losing my mind so I'm glad you posted. Thankfully I had my time machine back up. It also deleted some of the more recent address book entries. OY! It seems to be fine now.

No problems here. Is your 'Keep items until' field on your BB set to forever?

i got the same problem. i have a torch 9800 and an imac running snow leopard. i wanted to sync my ical and address book to my 9800. i would also like to mention that i have mobileme enabled so that's how i have my ical and addressbook synced wirelessly to my iphone and ipad. i downloaded the DM for mac the other day (directly from their website, not sure which version that is though) and when i synced (chose the two way option), all my entries on my ical was wiped out and transferred to my device. needless to say, mobileme, iphone, and ipad calendars also was wiped out!! good thing i had back up of my ical file so i just uploaded that. but now, i'm afraid to do it again because i don't know if that's going to happen again.

also, during that sync process, i got the error kb14954 and my address book won't sync. help!

Default BlackBerry Sync Deletes iCal events: Solution

I noticed that my Blackberry erases anything in my calendar that is older than 60 days. IT SOMETIMES TRIES TO DO THIS EVEN WHEN I HAVE ALREADY TOLD THE BLACKBERRY TO KEEP APPOINTMENTS FOREVER.

IF WHEN TRYING TO SYNC YOU GET: "Sync Alert: Syncing with BlackBerry desktop Manager will change more than 25% of your calendars, events, or to dos on this computer and then it shows you that it is about to delete a large amount of calendar events. STOP. Click on Sync Later.

Then do two things:

1) Make sure the BlackBerry is set to keep appointments forever

Go to the Calendar in your blackberry and opening it and then hitting the blackberry option key and scrolling down to Options and selecting Options
then select General Options
Then scroll down under Actions and find Keep Appointments and set this to Forever
Then hit the back key (the curved arrow to the right of the track ball) and select save

2) On your Mac:

Quit BlackBerry Desktop Manager and

Navigate to <User>/Library/Application Support/
Delete the BlackBerryDesktop folder.
Empty the Trash Bin.
Restart BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Change all your syncing settings and Sync. It will alert you that this is your first Sync ever. Choose Merge data for each choice when it asks.

this is an awesome reminder. I knew to change it on my Curve, but couldn't remember what to do on my Mac.
Thanks so much!!!
