how can you tell if you are one of the "chosen ones"? does it just not accept the data? or does it give you a message?

The real question isn't whether it's 9/18 or a couple of days later. Do you still stand by your claim that the release will be October 28 and that there will be no "e" in the phone's title? Come on, you have no credibility to nitpick when you were soooooooo far off base to begin with!

Any regular/VIP/Merits/B2B customer can buy the 8703e online or by phone on sunday september 17. As for early upgrade, just ask them to allow you to upgrade early and they should do it.

so, rather than paying 349.99 for the 8703E with a 2 year contract, you can get it for 249.99 with the early upgrade option via the VIP program? I like that, however I think I will be leaning towards buying a retail one full price. I am tired of being locked into contracts...

Boy, that would be nice... I'm trying to decide if I can handle the extra $150 over the cost of a 7130 (which is going to be pushing my little budget)

I just checked the FCC database and the release date for the short-term confidential documents is October 7, 2006. Wonder if that's when the 8703e will be available in stores?

If you read the RIM press release that makes sense.

Guy at a Verizon store told me it's six people or more. IIRC, it's a five or 10% discount. Goes up with the number of employees who sign up, of course.

I can't wait till Sunday. The extra 15.00 for next day air so I can get my fix is worth it. I'm already doing some extra finger stretching/flexing and keyboard warmups for Sunday.
