Question Default Bluetooth Passkey 9530 on Verizon

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone know what it is? I am at work and don't have my manual or my USB cable and noone else here has a 9530 Storm.

Thanks in advance!

trying to connect it to my laptop and use the desktop software to sync files, etc. We use BES here, so email syncs that way, but I just want to connect to my Laptop so I can save some files to it today. I tried 0000... no luck.

Ahhh, looking at the BB , in the bluetooth options, headset, handsfree and Serial Port are enabled, but the desktop connectivity is greyed out? is this silly Verizon locking down that function? if so why would it prompt me for a passkey?

Could be a problem with the Bluetooth stack on your laptop. Bluetooth is one of those techs that don't always work like it is supposed to. Did you try doing a battery pull on the BB and start over?

From what I understand, you must use the operating system's bluetooth driver. The manufacturer's drivers often do not work. Once paired with your OS using the OS driver, you should be able to manipulate the DM bluetooth options.

When you pair the bluetooth device with the desktop you should be able to select your code on the BlackBerry, then enter the same code on the desktop.

I am not sure which operating system you are running but I will take a guess and that it is XP. I will take another guess about your bluetooth card in your laptop is using the manufacturers drivers rather than Microsoft's.

If your answer is yes to both of those questions, that will explain why the Bluetooth sync is grayed out in the DM. RIM has a document that pretty much states you need to be using Microsoft's bluetooth drivers and not the manufacturers.

As far as being able to connect regardless, that is because you can connect to the BB in a dial up network connection or headphones and such without having to be running Microsoft's bluetooth drivers. If you want to do the PIM sync'ing, you will need to get bluetooth working on your laptop with Microsoft's drivers.

Here is the supporting documentation:

I've gone through all the steps and I still can't get the device manager to find my blackberry.

My phone has already been connected to my laptop.

Any tips?

Thanks.

Most BlueTooth Devices (Including Blackberry) will generate a unique pin when you pair. His problem is likely with his bluetooth stack.

Hi all new here, just joined and this will be quick cause I'm headed out the door for work. I was asking myself the same question as I too was having difficulty but I kept reading the userguide and it finally clicked...if the network your computer resides on requires a wpa2 password on a wifi network...oddly enough I discovered if you use that same password for both passkeys it works...don't ask why as I have no idea but hope that helps!!

There is NO default passkey. When you pair your BB to a laptop you simply have to enter the same passkey on both devices. YOU make it up at the time, get it?

Agreed. With "unintelligent" devices such as headsets and key fobs, where there is no means of entering a code, those devices typically are "0000" but where both sides are intelligent, a code must be entered on one device, and the same code needs to then be entered on the other device. No default code unless one side has no keypad.
