Thumbs up Blackberry Outage Mail List.

Please Login to Remove!

BB-Outage is a mail list for people to notify others if RIM's service is down in a particular area. if RIM is down in China, US, A particular state, city, etc, for people then post the area to the list so others are notified. It's probably best to subscribe from an address that's not associated with your Blackberry since if RIM's service is down, you won't get the e-mail anyhow.

We are NOT affiliated with RIM or any mobile carrier. This list is so users are able to stay in touch with each other and keep tabs on their coverage status.

For a RSS feed of this list, visit Bb-Outage November 2007 Archive

To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the Bb-Outage Archives.

Hopefully the mods can sticky this so it's available for everyone to see and also add it to the FAQ's site.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

If you reply to an email, yes.

I have this option set to yes. It's the best that I can do.

obscure_addresses (privacy): Show member addresses so they're not directly recognizable as email addresses?

Setting this option causes member email addresses to be transformed when they are presented on list web pages (both in text and as links), so they're not trivially recognizable as email addresses. The intention is to prevent the addresses from being snarfed up by automated web scanners for use by spammers.

You could make it so only list members can see the posts. They'd have to login to see them. I'm on some private emails lists where no one can see the posts unless they are a member and they have to login.

I've subscribed via RSS but I keep getting the same 15 messages show up - every time my RSS feeds are subscribed.

That's because of the crontab that runs every 5 minutes updating the feeds. I'm going to work on that today to see if I can fix that

Good to see this list publicized ... it can get a little chatty during an outage, but don't we want a chatty list when trying to troubleshoot larger issues.

I'd encourage RIM / Carrier partners to subscribe to the list and post information about outages / coverage as your NDA's allow.

Thanks for your work with this audit.

Just bumping this to the top again so new members can see it. It's received good feedback so far from multiple people and mods. I'd like to see this list grow as much as possible.

To keep noise down, we also have the BB-Chat Info Page list for people to post to.
