Thumbs down OEM Leather Swivel Holster

Quality of this leather case is worse than the one for 8300.

It's lined with vinyl on the inside...

My big question is: does it fit the device with the silicone skin on it?

I have 2 OEM ones from the 8300, one that fit with a skin and one that didn't.

I will just try to be patient and wait for Seidio to come out with a case. I got the screen protector last week and with care during installation, I do not even notice that it is there. Essentially, I made darn sure that no dist was on the screen. Used compressed air right before installation and carefully applied it. IMO, well worth the cost.

Mine is very tight and will definitely not fit with skin.

Thanks, that's what I figured. Guess I'll stick to the 8300 holster for now...

This holster is mediocre at best. Way too tight, buttons are being pushed when I try to jam the phone into it. And I have a terrible time to retrieve the phone when I try to answer a call! I just hope it will wear out to fit better. The included OEM holster for the Bold is much better designed!
I need something better than this...

I just received the holster today. I shoved my phone in it and it was way too tight. My solution... I took my 8320 which had the Seidio case on it... I shoved it in as far as I could and let it sit for 5 minutes. I had to pry the 8320 out... but sure enough the 8900 slid right in like butta' baby. Seriously it is now a perfect fit, when the phone gets 75% in it tightens up where it wasn't stretched and holds the phone nice. Pulling it out has tension yet comes out with ease.

This holster beats the 8320 OEM holster by a mile for me for one reason. The height of the clip in relation to the casing\leather. On the 8320 I'd clip it onto my belt then turn it horizontal. The top of the clip would be higher in relation to the case which would lead to the clip digging into my side. With this holster they got it right... turn the holster horizontal and the clip remains under the case\leather so there is no digging into my side. Also it's far less bulky then the 8320 holster... I barely feel like it's there on my belt now.

Stretch the leather a bit... give it a chance.

You just have to break it in like TheTechGuy said. I did the same thing with my OEM leather swivel holster for my Pearl. I love these OEM holsters. The one for my Pearl has held up great in 2 years. I recently ordered another one to have as a back-up.

Too tight when I got it. I put it up until I read this post. I managed to stretch it out with my 8320, but only enough for non-skinned use.

The clip is EXCELLENT.

Update, it works a lot better now. It stretched and is still very tight and difficult to remove and still dials 00 when I insert it, but a lot better than before. I hope it continues to stretch out more.

I have a skin on order and I am thinking of using the storm case since it is a little bigger and hopefully the 8900 w/skin will fit.

Has anyone else tried this? I looked locally for the BB storm case today but no luck at bestbuy.

I have a silicon skin on my 8900 and currently using my 8300 OEM holster. The 8900 fits perfectly into the 8300 Holster but the only thing is that the holster magnet doesn't make contact with the 8900 to put it to sleep. Somewhat of a bummer, but I don't mind because I always have the habit to lock my phone before putting it in the holster anyways, only thing is that I might suffer some battery loss when I the keyboard gets accidentally pressed, but that should be a rare occasion because the holster is hanging on my belt. The 8900 slides in and out perfectly with little to no effort of tugging the phone out of the holster because of it being too tight.

For those who MUST have the BB in sleep when in the holster, you can insert the 8900 with the screen facing your body, this would be where the backside of the 8900 is facing out. I discovered that if you do this, the magnet makes contact and puts the phone to sleep.

At this very moment, I've been inserting my 8900 with the backside facing out because I'm waiting for my Invisible Shield to protect the screen before I expose the screen to possible bumps and scrapes.

IMO, I think the 8300 works perfect for those who have a silicon skin around the 8900. The 8900 matches well with the 8300 OEM Holster and is pretty durable to say the least (it's protected my 8300 for over a year)

8300 holsters on ebay go for about $10 - you can't beat that.

I just measured mine with a skin against a Storm, and they seem to be about the same size (Storm is a little taller). Only issue I can see is the magnet not matching up. I'm curious to know if you have any success; I'm going to look around for a storm case if I have the time.

Wirelessly posted

The storm case is the right size for th 8900 with the skin on but the magnet doesn't matchup right so it stays on, to bad

Anyway to stretch this sucker out without a 83XX curve? Thing is way too tight and squeezing the crap out of the 8900!

I just bought an OEM case and actually love it. Yes - it's tight when it's new - but it does stretch and fits like a glove after a couple of days. Curiously yesterday I left it in a hot car without the device in it and it got tighter again so I guess I have to use it for a day or so to loosen it back up again.

The inner lining isn't vinyl (on mine anyway) though it feels slightly like vinyl - it's a very fine woven fabric - like silk or something. Very smooth though.

I bought it because the first case I had for it - which was similar to the case I had for my 8100 and later my 8110 - was showing wear after 3 weeks of use. The workmanship (on my case) OEM case is top rate.
