Default Playbook upgrades possible?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm about ready to pre-order. Does anyone know if, unlike the iPad, the Playbook can be upgraded with a) more memory, or b) 4G when it becomes available?

A: Best I can find (which is nothing), there is no memory card slot.
B: No. The device will be configured as either WiFi or WiFi + 4G (WiMax or LTE or HSPA+).

A: Definitely no memory slot
B: Wait for one that has it built in (or get a 4G MiFi)...

Sorry to hear, but thanks for confirming. Will likely get a 32 GB model then. Not sure when "4G" is coming to Canada... the specs for 4G seem very elastic in any case.

Funny with this 4G... nobody has a 4G network, they re-label 3G networks on HSPA as 4G for the faster speed provided, but it's not LTE which is a real 4G network.

I believe Verizon is actually rolling out a true 4G network; I was getting 20mbps testing their 4G aircard.

I am thinking of getting a Thunderbolt Android device just for the 4G speed. Would prefer the 4G MiFi but who knows when that will be out.

Novatel has a 4G MiFi on their website, so maybe it will be available soon.

Verizon should have a 4G MiFi out within the next few weeks (or so I've been told).

OK. Thanks. Have seen discussions about both LG and Novatel MiFi type devices being on the way. Would be nice to finally get one and play with it.

Got an email from Bell last week announcing the arrival of 4G. Specifically, nothing has changed, but the ITU has redefined the meaning of "4G". So Bell's existing network now qualifies. Not LTE, but they say it is coming.
