What the hell is the point of a Blackberry without a Data Plan? How else do you plan to connec to an internet service without first providing a connection from your phone to MSN?

Unfortunately you have to have data plan to use the MSN messenger. A workaround is to use web-based MSN messenger with wifi, but it is not exactly the same.

Don't bother. I have a data plan and MSN Messenger is the WORST program for these phones because it won't EVER connect unless I'm on WiFi.

As you've likely read in other threads, BeeJiveIM (formerly JiveTalk) is a wonderful multi-service Instant Messenger -- it worked for me for years with my 8300, and now it works beautifully with my 8900. I have my IM accounts running on it with Google Messenger, MSN/Live, Yahoo and AIM -- perfect product, good about battery usage, and tends to be very good with connection to the various IM services. Highly recommended on your Blackberry - assuming you have a data plan of course (and the analogue on your PC could be either Digsby or Pidgin).

BeeJiveIM FTW!

So much better than the built in apps. And it can work off just the Mobile Network, just Wifi, or both.
