Default Blackberry Desktop Manager 6.0.0.10 Missing Features

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am trying out the new Blackberry desktop manager 6.0.0.10 and I noticed some features available in version 5 is missing. For instance email filters and rules for wireless syncs. Is this by design? Also, I would have my Blackberry connected to my workstation the whole work day and disabled email forwarding to my device while connected. This was especially handy when one receives the bulk of email during that period.

The previous version also had a minimize to system tray feature would I cannot find in the new version.

Thanks!

You are using an early beta that you likely shouldn't have. Not all the features are included in that version. Release versions will have all the features.

I believe this is why actual beta testers - that is people MEANT to have beta software and give meaningful feedback on it knowing its limitations - are required to have a minimum IQ and pass screening exams. Well, they should. Either way, MENSA this one is not.

6.0.0.30. Or so I've heard.
But I'm not in Mensa either.

Yes, it was .30 that was released in beta zone. .10 was an early beta (very limited-not released to beta zone members) that was for testing only a few features. Its incomplete and shouldn't be disseminated.

Default missing email filter

I use a corporate email wireless sync as well and I just received an upgrade announcement. That usually doesn't happen for beta releases.

I allowed the download and installation to proceed.

When it was finished i tested it and it seemed to be fine, but no email filter adjustment options from the desktop. I can only do it on the BB now. I am running version 6.0.0.40.

I really believe if you are losing features in an upgrade you should be warned ahead of time.

Using a BB 8900 and just installed BB Desktop 6.0.0.40 and also notice no e-mail filtering. There also appears to be no way to set up Level 1 messaging either. Looks like I will be removing this version and reinstalling version 5. Too bad.

Are you a BES user? This can all be done quickly and easily from the device. I never once used any of those features in DM.

6.0.0.40 isn't a beta. It's a release version.

Did you really set filters and level 1 filters from the DM? I almost never use DM and when I do, I don't use it for that. Setting filters directly on the device is so much quicker.

So here's a question; in DM5, you could also set which folders on the outlook server would be synced to your device. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this in DM6. Is there any way to change these settings from the device?
