Default turn off data, leave phone working?

Please Login to Remove!

(8310, on AT&T, 4.5.0.55)

I believe it used to be possible (although I admit, the last time I needed to was about 8 device models ago) to turn off the data traffic, from the device, while leaving the phone working.

The situation (in case there's a smarter alternative): I'll be roaming for a few days in a far distant galaxy that has a roaming agreement, but I'd rather just turn off the data temporarily and avoid the charges -- but I still want the phone to work.

(Along the same lines, I *also* think I remember that one used to be able to configure desktop manager to use the PC's network connection while docked -- i.e. reverse tethering, if you will. I would do this to get the device up to date, using the (free) PC networking rather than the expensive radio networking. Any way to do this?)

Thanks.

Yes, go to Options >Mobile Network and set Data Services to Off.

OK, that couldn't have been any more obvious if it had slapped me with a wet haddock. Thank you, John.

(Any way to do the "reverse tethering"? Thanks.)

No, you can't reverse tether.
