An .ipd file can only be read by a BlackBerry itself. You'll need to open the Desktop Manager and import the file into a BlackBerry to access the data.

thanks. but i am not sure i understand. I have backed-up the information from my blackeberry onto my pc. it is saved as an ipd file on my pc and i cant open it. I had expected that the backed-up info on my pc would be easy to open.

do you think i am doing something wrong?

Strictly a data back from you BB so if for example you get a new device you can restore to the previous configuration on a new unit or if you wipe your device the .ipd acts as a restore point from your last sync.

you can rename it to .txt and open it with notepad, you'll see some of the data but there will be a lot of extra junk as well.

the only thing readable is the email messages. there is a LOT of other crap in there.

i renamed to txt and opened with Excel, and there still is a lot of crap in there.
i tried the various, delimiter options, but couldn't find one that cleaned it up enough.

do you have experience with this? what delimiter options would you suggest using?

Default Oh-oh

My ipd file is curropt and wont open with ABC or BB manager so i cant restore my backup. However when i look inside the corrupt ipd file and a non currupt file, the both look very similar (just with less data)

How can i repair this file?

Thanks

Tom
