@ SMF

The Voda "Today" theme .cod file is missing in this OS even though
the theme itself does exist in the Blackberry.alx file.

You'd need to copy the file net_rim_theme_120_today_320x240.cod
over from one of your previous OS installs.
If I'm not mistaken the date on the latest version of that file should be 7/10/2006.

@ flash24

I like the Voda Today theme myself- for its simple (though un-flexible) design.
It even shows your Calendar appointment (at least the 1st one for sure) on the main screen.
As do the Today themes.

I humbly beg to differ on the 'lastest OS' part.
This -as of this moment- is the latest 8700 .351 OS->

Probably 'fraternal twins'!

Don't mean to ruffle any feathers here but I'm only stating facts that I see with my own eyes.
It only struck me when SMF mentioned the TMO US 4.2 in the Vendor.xml.

The differences are only seen when one digs deeper-
Vendor.xml from O2 Europe .351
<vendorsrc version="1.0.0.338">
<vendor id="0x64" Name="T-Mobile US">
~~
<bundle id="System" version="4.2.0.53">
<devicehwid>0x84000D03</devicehwid>
</bundle>
</vendor>

Vendor.xml from Bharti .351
<vendorsrc version="1.0.0.334">
<vendor id="0x64" Name="T-Mobile US">
~~
<bundle id="System" version="4.1.0.365">
<devicehwid>0x94000903 0x9c000503</devicehwid>
</bundle>
</vendor>

As can be seen the 4.2 is missing from the Bharti.
And the file net_rim_bb_qm_peer_resource_en.cod is newer in the O2.

I actually downloaded each one separately and installed them on my PC
just to make sure my eyes were not deceiving me.

What difference does THAT make? You have to delete the Vendor file to get it to work on a US handheld anyway.

To my knowledge, nothing as far as this OS itself installs/works on the 8700.

Except perhaps that it does seem to hint at the path the
'Latest 8700 Software' is going to take?

Thanks. I've kind of figured that out. I also spent a little bit of time looking at the .alx file. It looks like the voda today theme and what I'll call the older voda theme (net_rim_theme_120_320x240.cod) are in the alx but are loaded on the 8707 (the entry is coded for radio="UMTS"). I think I'll put the .cod file from an earlier build into the java folder and edit the alx to load the older themes (just for the heck of it!)

I think you should be able to change the UMTS to GPRS and
upload the themes, keeping in mind:
a) it says 8700 series in the line
b) the .cod file named in that theme is copied into the Java folder
c) the _VendorID is removed completely ((which of course you've probably already done).

So I am installing Bharti as I type this. Has anyone found any issues with it at this point?

Of course I forgot to delete my phone log, so my Enterprise Activation is going to take a while. Yuck.

Had no probs installing this at all, works fine and can't say I've had any issues with call volume. Noticed one thing I hadn't seen before, under Localisation (or Language) I've noticed "Use Input Method Shortcut" which can be set to "Yes/No" and under that "Notify Me" which again can be set to "Yes/No". Not sure what these do yet and haven't had the time to play around and find out (had two BES servers go down this week so have been a bit busy...long story)!!! So all together seems OK....apart from bloody Zen giving me too many thinks I don't need to see:

Ok so install went fine but PocketDay won't run so I will unistall and reinstall from DM. It was previously an OTA.

Reinstalling PD but it's not running.

Also you lose your BB Weather locations, but that I expected.

I didn't lose any of that. I think DM is supposed to save everything just prior to the upgrage and then restore it all after. My PD worked fine after the upgrade. It always has. From stock cing to 1st bharti to orange uk to telstra to dobson to 2nd bahrti. OMG, I'm an upgrade junkie!!!!

Nothing at all on PD running or a few areas?

have this Bharti .351 OS on my 8700. Never had PD.
Downloaded the PD Pro trial yesterday to check it out.
After install it asked a few steps to setup each part and now it seems to be running fine.

I noticed in Settings under Communications only BIS is mentioned.
I have TMO BIS, no BES.

I finally got PDP to run by doing it OTA and not with DM but when I try to add lists back neither app runs, so I give up on lists. Tired of the long reboots for now. Plus if you see the PDP next version thread, there are a number of things that could be improved for a truly functional app. Integration with native apps is key.

OK... I am missing something or not doing something. I have upgraded to the latest Bahrti and cannot seem to get the Voda Today theme to work. I have installed the updated AXL file and have followind Jibi's instructions but it is a no go. Anyone have any ideas?

Yes. The voda today theme needs the older voda theme (net_rim_theme_120_320x240.cod) to work properly. This theme isn't loaded in the .351 build. Copy that theme out of an earlier build into the java folder of the .351 build. You'll then have to edit the .alx file. Search for voda in the file and you will find the section with the theme entries. There are two entries for the 8700 that have a radio="UMTS" in them. Change UMTS to GPRS, save the file and start desktop manager then select application loader. It will tell you you have core applications to update. Do the update and it will load the old base vodaphone theme and your voda today theme will work.
