I'm conducting a survey based on this thread:

I am trying to determine if there is a latent reset problem in the general 8800 population. This is looking for "soft" resets that may be occuring w/o the users knowing it.

The easy way to check your uptime is from the home screen, hold down the "Alt" key and key in "EACE". One of the fields will be "Uptime" in seconds. I'd like for users to check it and indicate if it's *shorter* that they'd expect. It should be a value that indicates when you last booted the 8800. If it is shorter, then that may be an indication the the 8800 has gone thru a soft (or hard) reset without you knowing it. Overnight, it's easy to miss.

Please check and post your results, if shorter.

I have never had my 8800 do a reboot unless I pulled the battery.

How would you know? If it goes through a soft reboot, it's only off for 3-5 seconds, and the screen comes back to where it was before. Or if it occurs overnight, how would you know?

If my 8800 Blackberry decides to reboot itself at 1am in the morning, I could care less. What it does when I am not looking does not concern me.

What I can say for sure is after using it for 11 days it has not one time done this while I was using it. I have not had a single dropped call or error message. After deleting the included video I have had 29330364 memory free and have not seen it go much below this. I have pulled the battery twice to see if the memory free changed greatly and it did not.

These forums tend to report the bad news the most and from what I have seen the vast majority of the 8800 users are not have soft or hard unexpected reboots.

Easier, in my opinion, ways to pull up the same info are Alt-Num-H or Alt-Cap-H

It's kinda like, "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to see it, does it make noise?"

To my knowledge, my 8800 hasn't reset.

Maybe you're thinking of pocket pc's?

Perhaps a silly question, but how did you delete the preloaded video? The onboard help application says that I can only delete media files that I added myself, but I certainly don't want that video taking up space forever. Thanks in advance.

No, mine has been doing it all day. take it ouf of the holster and it resets. Clean the screen, it resets. Not shedding bad light on it because I know things happen and Cingular will take care of the problem.

If my 8800 was doing that, I would be in front of the Cingular rep getting my phone replaced.

That would drive me absolutely nuts and I'd definitely be back at the store getting a replacement. Good luck and hopefully you'll get a better 8800.

i am noticing lots off issues with he 8800, its using up alot more memmory and seems slower than the 8700c. the ui is definitely a few ms slower and its definitely noticeable especially when typing like in memopad. not to mention theres alot less free memory on these 8800's

my 8800 has been up for 73 hours so far...no resets.
the only reason its only 73 hours and not longer is because i had to pull the battery when i installed the full invisible shield.

Waht have you installed on your BB8800? I have 29330364 free and even after a hard reset my 8800 does not move far from this figure, even after several days. Compared to the Pearl, the leak is fixed for me on my 8800.
