Default Email Attachment question.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

My boss has just asked me to find out what would happen if an email with an attachment, say an xls was sent to a blackberry that did not have the correct software to view it. I need to know if the attachment would be just deleted, a message would show up saying attachment not viewable, converted or what exactly would happen. I need to find this out without any more information such as model, software version or whatever. If anyone could help me out with this nebulous question that would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Eboo

I believe if you forward the message from your blackberry the attachment will still be there, so you can send it to someone else.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7520/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

Dawg. If I get an attachment sent to me by an aol user I can't open the attachment. Is there a setting on my 7520 or is it an aol issue. It shows attachment but won't open.

I'm trying to send some pictures to my BB to use as backgrounds... Unless I find a better way (hint hint) I am e-mailing them to myself. I have resized the pix to 240x160 and sent them as an attachment.

When the e-mail gets to the BB, it shows 4 attachments (correct) is that my first problem? Should it only be 1 attachment per e-mail?

I open the email, scroll down to one of the attachments, click, select "Open Attachment" and all 4 are listed.

Scroll down to one of them, click, select "Retrieve Info" - get error "Couldn't Recieve More"

If I select "Expand", It shows the image name, with "Table of Contents" and "Full Content" indented below the file name. I get the same error if I try to "Retrieve Info" on any of these items.

What am I doing wrong, or does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thanks - I tried to detail it as much as I could. This is on a 7290 running 4.0.2.49

OK - it doesn't look like it is the number of attachments per e-mail. I have resent the e-mail with one attachment, and the same thing is happening.

AAArrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

This is becoming a very love/hate relationship... One minute I love it, the next it's all I can do to keep from throwing it out the danged window!

It is the redirector, I guess - LOL - accounts set up through cingular.com/blackberrystart - there is no BES involved. I hope that is what you mean.

I was finally able to get *most* of them to work correctly, but it looks like once it bombs on one, you might as well delete the e-mail, because it will never work.

May I suggest trying (I don't know if this is what you had been trying) scroll down to the attachment you want to open and open attachment. On each attachment you get the option of Table of Contents and Full Content...highlight Full Content click in the track wheel and select Retrieve.
When I get the message that I couldn't receive more...if I scroll down to the bottom of the email...there is the content.
I may be totally off on this, but this is how I do it.
