also back up and running as of 8:45am, Weds, 4/18/07, Cingular, BIS, emails and internet. However, I've only received 5 emails thus far, so I would guess it's slow.

My BB is receiving messages. But most of the ones here are not. Very sporadic.

Most disappointing has been RIM's total silence. I'm sure this will be a topic at WES...

My thoughts, exactly.
While I don't mind coming to BBfourms.com for news and updates... I shouldn't have to.
For a company that revolves around communication technology... they sure are doing a crap job in communicating directly with their clients in a situation like this.

Is this just bad timing and I shouldn't fret or has these outages been semi-frequent (~1/mo.)?

As for an FYI:

BIS e-mail is down, web is working. Went down about 9:10PM CDT
Chicago, IL
I've had a BB off and on for about 2 years. This is only the second outage I remember. If BB really was unreliable they wouldn't be selling.

As an aside. I've been getting 1xev all morning. I just did a resend on one of my X messages and the phone jumped to 1XEV and I got a checkmark and the message I sent arrived at the destination within about 30 seconds.

I agree. I wonder what they'll do for communication in the after-math..(Email all those panicked admins that didn't check bbforums and let them know that their 3 hours of troubleshooting can be resolved becuase it was their fault along?)

It sure would have been nice to get a PIN...ohh well, I'm sure they're doing the best the can.

I wonder why not at least post a little note on blackberry.com?

Backup plans? I guess we all start handing out BlackJacks and Treos now? LOL

Not sure but the outage was not just BES/BIS related. All internet connectivity through the RIM network was also affected. So I don't think PIN messaging would have worked. If/when we get details maybe we'll understand what RIM could have done to make notifications.
