How do I hook up wired stereo headphones to the BB8100? Is there a way? Thanks!

You will need an adapter (Radio Shack) to convert the stereo headset plug to the standard phone/8100 plug. Works fine.

As NJBlackBerry pointed out an adapter will work great. You can also purchase the stereo headphones for the Motorola ROKR, they work great with the 8100.

I went to a Verizon store (actually a Verizon section in a Circuit City) today and bought a stereo headphone/integrated microphone set that was listed as usable on "virtually all Verizon phones with 2.5mm jack". It works perfectly with my Pearl, including mike functions for receiving and sending calls. It is black to match the Pearl and more sleek than the pictures of the ROKR headphones that I have seen. I'm no audiophile, but the earbuds sound great to me. It cost $29.95, same as the forthcoming Blackberry integrated earbuds.

Now if RIM would just fix the 2GB microSD card bug ...

That is funny. I did the same thing, exactly. They had a jabra stereo headset. it was white, however and $39.95. I didn't buy it. Thought it was too expensive.

Really any 2.5mm jack stereo headsets will work or get an adapter like my NJ pointed out.

Default Recommend good stero headset?

I've never had a portable music player, but have decided it's time to investigate downloadable tunes for my 8100. Can anyone recommend which headsets work best for them, with the 2.5mm jack that is compatible with the 8100? I'm not looking to spend a fortune, just want something that is reliable, has reasonable sound qaulity, and works with the 8100.Thanks in advance!

I'm using Jabra C120s. Sounds fine while walking around Manhattan, didn't cost too much and also includes mic and push button for taking phone calls.

I went to RadioShack and got the adaptor there and it did NOT work. I returned it.

The stereo headphones for the Motorola ROKR are supposed to work quite well with the 8100.

I have tried to find any stereo headsets that would work and none do. I also have tried finding an adaptor to use regular headsets, again with no luck. Everytime I try something, I only get audio out of the phone speaker.

Do I have a bad phone, or a setting messed up somewhere?

Default Headphones for the 8100

Using tips provided here, I learned that the Motorola ROKR had a jack like that on the Pearl. I went into a Cingular store and was told they were out of the ROKR headphones. They told me I should go to a mall kiosk where I could probably find something that would work. I did and paid $19.95 for some knockoff version of the ROKR type stereo headset\mic the vendor probably purchased for $4 or so from an asian manufacturer. The great thing about a headset\mic setup which uses all the Pearl's capabilities is that if you are listening to music on the media player and an email or sms is received, you hear the sound you set up with your profile for that item. The music is basically muted. Same thing with ringtones. Also, you can carry on a conversation, and when you hang up, the music comes back on. Pretty cool.

The sound quality does not match my Sennheiser headphones, but I get the whole integrated package. I will only use it when I want to listen to music and talk on the phone. Most of the time I will use my BT headset.

So if you don't want to order from an online source, hit the mall. You'll probably find something that works.

I can verify that the audio adaptors at this link for the Moto Q work, as well. I've been listening to music through my car stereo (cassette adaptor) successfully with the one with the built in mic and answer button:

Seidio offers the audio adaptor that works with BB 8100. It comes with built in Mic and the answer button. Read the review in this forum.

Here's the trick to the 3.5 to 2.5mm adaptors (or any 2.5mm headphones). Make sure they have 4 pole's and not just 3.

Regular headphones have 3 poles. Left, Right, and Ground. The Pearl uses a fourth...wait for it...wait for it....Voice. The reason you only get mono sound is because on if the pole's (the right usually) is either connecting to both the voice and the right channel and therefore shorting out, or it's connecting to just the voice and not the right channel. Look at the actual Jack and make sure it has 3 rings and 4 distinct sections to get stereo in your headphones.

Any mobile device that has voice enabled stereo headsets should work flawlessly (I myself use Jabra C220's for a ROKR).

I picked up a set yesterday at CompUSA for $12.99. "Cellular Audio Ear Bud" made by foneGEAR. They work but I don't like the cord. It's kind of stiff.
