Default 8330 Symbol

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 8330 (Bell Mobility) for a month now and have a symbol on my screen with a smiley face with a "1" and red X on top of it. Can anyone tell what that symbol is for.
I deleted all my missed calls and voice mail, all emails are opened. It looks like a missed item, but what, I don't know. I Could not find anything in the manual or may have missed it.

TIA.

Are you using any IM services, like AIM or Yahoo?

I believe that means you have a new Blackberry Messenger message.

No IM, I have them all hidden. Both answers point to an IM proggy, I will check those out and reply.

Thanks again.

How do I turn it off (get rid of it) or it doesn't. It may or may not been there before, can't remember.

Thanks.

Well if you want to turn gps off you can go to options, then advanced options, then GPS, and you should be able to set it to "location off."

You can't turn it off. It's for 911 emergency.

Actually, you can turn off the GPS location, but the icon will remain and you can still use the device for 911 (and be found via GPS by 911, even with location off).

Yes, I should clarified the subject to which my pronoun was referring.

When I stated that you can't turn it off, the pronoun "it" was referring to the icon not to the GPS function itself.

I've tried everything I can think off before asking how to remove the symbol. Happy to know it cannot be done, I don't feel so stupid after all.
Thanks to all those who have helped.
