Default Where to Save PIN

Please Login to Remove!

Which field do you save a friend's pin number in Outlook so when I sync my BB and I'm typing a message on it, I hit address book, bring up a contact and it should show their Pin #

Thanks.

There is not a field in outlook for that, UNTIL you map a BB field to it in your sync setup on your Desktop Manager... does that make sense?

Sync setup, Configure.

Map fields, you will want to chose one field on your Outlook and map BB <--> Outlook

I'll try mapping the "IM" field tomorrow at work.

Thanks.

I'm curious...... Why not just enter PIN in address book on the blackberry? Why do it in Outlook?

In the several years I've had blackberrys, it never, ever, occurred to me to record the PIN using Outlook. Obviously there might be a reason to do it that way....... Can't think of why, though.

Well I guess I could map that PIN field to my outlook too, never felt the need, but why not?

I was looking in Outlook to see where the PIN number ends up, before you posted. On my system, the PINs entered on the blackberry go to User Field 1. But I saw your post and then realized, of course, that this doesn't mean PINs entered in that field in Outlook will go in the right place on the blackberry without mapping...... or maybe it would, but I'm too lazy to test it.

Restore from a backup will restore the entire address book.
If the PIN is not mapped to outlook, it will not sync.

How exactly do you map the field, I have been trying to figure it out.

There IS a field in Outlook for the PIN.

Open a contact and click on "All Fields"
In the Drop down list box, select "Miscellaneous fields"
User Field 1 is used to store the PIN.

Been there forever.

** NO MAPPING REQUIRED **

I've never looked before in Outlook for a PIN, so it's good to know it is automatic.
Thanks NJ.

When I went to map the field I saw PIN <-> User Field 1 but could not find it in Outlook contacts.

Thanks.
