Question Bold 9650 vs. Style 9670??

Please Login to Remove!

I've got a Bold from Sprint which I just love. I usually get flip phones as they seem to do better on the farm. The screens are protected and so forth. They didn't have a flip when I got my Bold. So when upgrade time come not too far off I was thinking of the Style. But I had a couple questions. I use my phone for e-mail, texting, phone of course, take some pictures when no camera with me, and sync it with KOrganizer (Linux) so calendar & address book. I don't travel. So I've been looking at both phones on the Sprint web site, doing the comparison chart, reading over all the features from when you click the "more info" button and what I can't figure out is WHY is the Style $100 LESS than the Bold? Is the travel feature the $100 worth, or does the style have a slower processor or something? I can't tell that the Bold can do more than the Style, but there must be some reason a brand new phone is $100 less.
I'm hoping the new BlackBerry OS6 will still sync with Linux, but won't know till I try.
That purple sure is pretty.......a nice green would be even better......
Thanks!

Because they want you to buy it. They want you to go "wow that's a great deal, I'll buy that, instead of ...another phone".

So, other than the ability to travel overseas, the Bold doesn't do anything more or better than the style. And maybe since it's the unusual flip they are doing a really good deal? I just didn't want to be downgrading my BB rather than upgrading. Thanks MD!

Cowgirl i have went through many blackberry and have to say the style has been by far my most favorite of them all, it is no slower and can do whatever the bold can, its a great phone its just a flip instead, you should give it the 30 day try and if not satisfied take it back..

I love that about Sprint, you can try it for 30 days. The Bold is my 4th BB really. What happened is I tried the purple Curve, and in a week it wouldn't make or receive phone calls. My hubby's Centro was working fine in the same place. Took it back, got another purple Curve (anyone can wind up with a lemon) same thing. Took it back in a week, tried the Red Curve. Same thing in just a few days. Took it back, bit the bullet and spent the extra for the Bold, which worked great and converted me into a BlackBerry fan. Now I can't imagine not having a BlackBerry. But I do love flip phones, they work better for me. I just didn't want to downgrade my "smartphone" for a "sitting in the back row shooting spitwads" phone and wasn't sure what would be the reason for the big price difference. As I understood it, the Curve was like the Bold, but without travel capabilities. But then the Curves didn't work. So I didn't know, and couldn't find out from the Sprint site, if there were reasons like, the Bold has a stronger/better antenna that might make the price difference. I figured BlackBerry people would know this sort of thing. But boy that Style looks appealing. It looks like you've had lots of BBs that worked. So coming from you, that's pretty compelling, thanks!!!

Process between the two, its the same, RAM, flash memory, both the same.

The main difference between the device is the bold has a GSM radio for international travel, while the style doesn't. The bold has a 3.2mp camera and the style has a 5.0mp camera. Also the bold has a higher resolution on the screen, the screen might be smaller (2.4in bold vs 2.7in style), but the resolution is better (480x360 bold vs 360x400 style).

You can't go wrong with the style honestly.

Curve is entry level, style is mid-level and bold is flag ship. Hence, that is where they are geared towards.

Oh and battery on bold would be better, it's got room for a bigger battery.

Thumbs up Re: Bold 9650 vs. Style 9670??

Ok, I was under the mis-impression that the Curve and the Bold were the same except the Curve was the non-business model for people that weren't traveling over seas. That they were just alike in every other way. I hate to admit it. I didn't know there were different levels off BBs. Thought they were all just BBs. But then my experience was 3 Curves didn't work, the Bold did from the start. So for the future, how do you know which are entry level, mid or Best? I mean is it just the price that's the tip off, or is it something you just sort of get to know after you've been a BB fan for awhile. I really did read the descriptions on Sprint, I knew the Style had a better camera, yet the Bold cost more. I'm urging hubby to get a BB when he upgrades and I'm suppose to suggest (by reading forums and seeing what owners say about the models) a model for him. I know now I don't want to suggest an entry level BB.

I have both and the Style is actually faster and the better phone just not the preferred form factor. The Style is in no way a downgrade unless you travel overseas. If you like flips its the one to get. The Camera is better but the placement of it sucks. Typing is easy but takes slight adjustment as the Keys are slightly shallower than the Bold. The Style is the most under rated BB made IMHO.

I agree, I have had the Style since it launched and it is all good. I actually prefer the keyboard over my Tour.

Totally agree....used the Style for one day and that was enough to know that I wanted to go back to the Bold. Keyboard was worse, camera was better and opening the flip every time to type was a pain in the arse for as many emails as I get per day.
