Question End user password reset utility?

Our organization uses a large number of BB devices of various models and service providers. As a result of this and no real end user training budgets, our users frequently forget passwords and end up wiping their device (we have our password "time out" set to 5 tries). Is there any utility available that will allow an end user to reset their own password to help eliminate un-necessary calls into our help desk?

No I think there is not such utility. Also I think educate your users is cheaper at they end. It is not to expensive to create a FAQ (site). Or a digital instruction. That saves time for support and for the users, and it keep your users happy.

afrazier5, yes there is such utility, it is called the blackberry resource kit, you can change the device password, have your help desk add, remove, kill employee's on your BB Server.

It is not very user friendly, but if you know vb, you should be able to create something for them to use. I am currently developing a tools just like this that uses the resource kit for out help desk and second level support teams.

Wow, forgetting your bb password. Either your users are never using their handhelds, or you have a really restrictive pw policy.

Well we don't have a very restrictive password policy, and you won't believe how many people call into the help desk saying that they have 6/7 attempts and they don't know their password, or fat fingured it. They will even tell the employee don't type it wrong again or it will earse the BB, and they will still type it wrong over the phone. And for as people not using it, that is fully not true, if someone misses an email and it arrives 1 minute late they are wanting to know why.

*SIGH*

As for designing a tool, it really isn't that hard use, and it can be designed or just use the BES RESOURCE KIT! In the long run it is worth it.
