Default £377.06

Please Login to Remove!

My car had an MOT and service today. The tread was illegally low on my front two typres (oops) so I had to change those. Plus the MOT fee, the service fee, the brake fluid change fee, labour, etc.

£377.06! Bah. My shoe budget for this month has just vanished.

The most annoying thing is that a few months ago, my brakes started squeaking. I thought "MOT coming up and they seem to work, so we will see"
The "technician's notes" on bottom of report are
"REAR BRAKES ARE NOISEY INOPERATION"

I asked the front desk what this meant, they said "oh the brakes are fine, just noisey"

I ALREADY BLOODY KNEW THAT! I wanted to know WHY they are noisey, and how to stop it. VW don't seem to think it is a problem... I have to drive the squeaky car though.

If it is a squeal, of sorts, coming from the brakes, it is likely the brake pads are wearing to the warning level they will need replacing soon... the high pitched squeal is the built-in warning alert.

That's a low shoe budget.

How expensive is your taste? Do you go for quality or quantity? This will affect my decision to contribute.

It depends on what the shoes are for. I have some very expensive shoes, and they don't get worn that often (like my current favourites, they are $900 Christian Louboutin shoes - but they cost me £440 thanks to exchange rates), they are SO beautiful. Worn them once, and you can really see the damage on the soles. So they won't be coming out again until the occasion demands it, because I bloody LOVE those shoes and they were last seasons, so I can't replace them or get a spare pair). I have other shoes for wearing to work (boring) and then other shoes for pubs/clubs, because in London you have to accept that they will get wrecked (people step on you, spill drinks, clubs are dirty etc.)

So to cut a long story short, it is all good. I go for quality and quantity, hurrah.

I follow the same plan pretty much. I have a 2 pairs of shoes (out of the 20 or so I have right now) that get worn about once a year (if that).

With that in mind, I might contribute. Unfortunately, that would dip into my shoe and mobile phone fund. Sacrifices...

You've got a bold and an iPhone (stop copying la Jadey, really) - what do you need a mobile phone fund for? I no longer believe that you are an American, aren't you supposed to call it a cell phone anyway?

I also have a Nokia 7900 Prism, LG Shine, BB 8707g, BB 7230, Nokia 6630, Motorola RAZR2 V8 and a couple of classic Motorolas right now. I am a serious phone whore. :(

I want an HTC S743, but I don't think I can wait for it to come out. :(

You might have to! You can't buy it if it is not released.

BB 7230? OMG, you sound like ChadfromLI now. dc/dc you have a problem. You shouldn't be proud of owning a Motorola RAZR, whichever version it is. Or a Nokia.

It is OK. You are surrounded by friends. We can get you the help you clearly need.

OK, I just googled HTC S743. I don't understand why you'd want that?

I like the size mainly, but I also like that it's not a touchscreen like the Diamond and Touch Pro. I was going to get an S740 when I was in Denmark last month, but I decided against it because it didn't have US 3G. Then I saw the S743 and my interest was piqued again. :(

Denmark was actually a holiday with my dad, but I'm a network engineer. From Sumter, I'm managing 11 wireless networks in the Middle East that my company installed previously.

OK, still a tad confused. Why do you have to go to Sumter for 4 months to manage wireless networks? Or is that info top secret confidential?

Because this is where my customer's network operations center is, and 4 months is the amount of time left on the maintenance contract. There was another guy here but he quit right before Christmas, so my company had to scramble to fill the slot, and unfortunately I am the most qualified person. :(

Yeah, it's a tough life, but somebody's got to do it.
