Default 16GB micro-SD card issues

Please Login to Remove!

I just installed a new 16GB SanDisk microSD card in my 9700 and I'm having some issues. In the Blackberry Properties, it shows I currently use 952 MB of 953 MB available on the card. But when viewing the properties in windows, it shows 15.6GB used space on the card.

I know for a fact that I have less than 1GB of data on it right now. Is there something I need to do to "unlock" the full capacity of this 16GB card? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I have also a 16gb card and i have as total space 14,8gb. When i had insert the card for the first time, I formated it. Maybe you can try to format it, in you phone, not in windows. Maybe that would help!

Here's a few screenshots.

If I plug my 9700 into my computer via the USB cable, and then view the drive, I can right click on it and view it's properties and this is what it shows me:

Now, if my 9700 is plug in and I click "my computer" and right click --> view properties, I get this:

I'll try to format it right now and see if that helps.

OK, I just formatted it and now it says it has a total of 960MB. I just tried to add a 1.54GB file to it and it stopped at 959MB, telling me it was full.

Any ideas?

I think the only way for sure to find out how much capacity your micro SD card would have is to format your card in the BB, and then get a reading in blackberry how much memory you have "left" through the blackberry directly under settings/memory..

Once you know what your remaining freed up memory is...then I guess you will find out if were taken or not, obviously if you copy anything you have on the card worth saving, you copy afterwards back to the newly formatted card.

Good luck. This is what I would do before myself insane...

I recently purchased a 16GB (Sandisk) from Amazon and it did the same thing when I initially put it in and checked on it. I was going nuts like you. The 2 things I did were: 1. Made sure it was in right and not only that, make sure it is in their firmly and 2. Restart your BB again after you have formatted the media card. Once I did both of those, mine was good to go so I know it was one of those that worked.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help, guys.

I already formatted it in my BB, and it shows as a 1GB card now, but I can't remember if I restarted afterwards, so I'll try that when I get home. I'm pretty sure I've been had though.

I have an A-data 8GB class 6 card on the way just in case I can't get this card to work.

Yeah, it's the same story in a card reader.

I'd have to mail it back to the seller in China before PayPal would even consider giving my money back. *SIGH*

I add my card and it formats 16GB but when I connect it to my computer to copy files it is ok, but when I disconnect it from the computer it says a media card has been inserted and needs to be formatted every time I unplug it from my computer.
