Default Mysterious Moving E-Mail Icons

Please Login to Remove!

I have installed this version on my 9700 and it appears to be working well... except for the problem I have with the e-mail icons moving themselves around.

After much searching around, it appears the culprit is the Enhanced GMail plug-in. It is activated automagically when you add a GMail account and I have yet to discover a way to uninstall it or turn it off. When I removed my GMail accounts from the Blackberry E-Mail configuration, the problem went away.

This appears to be a common problem based on some of the internet posts I have read.

Aside from that, I really like the new UI. It does save time. The fact that you can search right from the home screen for an application or contact or just about anything is terrific. Overall, I think it is a great improvement.

Regards,
Rob

4. Less free Memory than the latest 424 leaked build.

6. AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH.
7. ITS RUBBISH. ITS THE 380 beta build in an Official Wrapper.
8. DO NOT INSTALL IF YOU HAVE THE NEWER OS6 BETA 424 build. You will regret it!

Official Release? This is a VERY BAD Official Release.

Not impressed.

Can someone confirm my findings?
Already tought so...

i heard OS6 is going to arrive at Feb. 30 in Europe Netherlands so i im gonna wait my ass till it comes to my Bold

Regarding the mentioned issues, here's what I found on my AT&T Bold 9700:

1. No SMS cursor :: I have the cursor. No problem.

2. No BBM cursor :: I have the cursor. No problem.

3. Non-Smooth Scrolling in SMS message header page :: Scrolling is fine. No problem.

4. Less free Memory than the latest 424 leaked build :: Can't say. Had about 75MB free out of total 250MB after clean wipe install.

5. Cursor dissappears in the OPTIONS if you scroll to the bottom :: Works fine for me. No problem.

I don't know what the variables are and why some people are having trouble. I don't doubt there may be some variances in hardware outside the USA. I guess your mileage may vary.

Regards,
Rob

Yea oke ...
But i read you did a Clean wipe on your blackberry .. and i cant do that have to much things on it and im not that smart with blackberry tranfers i just know the basics :P
i just want to see when i look at my blackberry

UPDATE AVAILIBLE then i click yes or no and install... or trough BlackBerry desktop manager because this is downloading from internet sites i know its from blackberry it self but its not recommended maybe its only a beta because the real OS6 still needs to come out the OS6 that comes out Feb. 30 is going to be better then this OS6 because if its still not availible its still in working progress

Understand my statement :P

I totally understand. I was willing to endure the pain of a fresh install because my past experience with any OS is that upgrades are sometimes more trouble than they are worth. I use the Blackberry Swiss Army Knife application to wipe and install OS releases. It's a real lifesaver.

Do you also use it also to reinstall your 3rd party apps after the fresh installation is finished?

Did you follow the path listed in the directions at the top of this forum? Are you using a 9700 as it's not listed on your profile?

Everyone, quit trolling about how mad you are at RIM and how much BlackBerry has gone down in your books. "Maybe it's time to switch to iphone or android." Honestly. RIM releases OS's to carriers. The leaks you get are someone from the carrier uploading the OS before the carrier stamps it official. It is up to the carrier to release an OS, be it buggy or not. Ugh, how misinformed some people may be, and how much they can control how others think...

Hi, Howard. No, it is only for installing the OS. I reinstall all of my applications again manually after checking to be sure they are supported on OS 6.0.

Rob

I too am running Windows 7 64-bit. The latest version does not seem to have a problem on my system. You might try sending a note to the developer.

Rob

this version seems to be extremely cool and more user friendly....
however my bbm has started lagging when i open it, switching through chat or receiving a msg...however this problem only started when 1 new conversation of the bbm started being displayed on the home page....however there is no conversation open in the bbm and when i go to open it on the home page it says ' you currently have no notifications'...

Can anyone help?

Hello... I have a few comments & questions. First, thx for the link - the new OS is 1000x better than OS 5xxx.

I got BBSAK (BB Swiss Army Knife) to work fine on W7x64 Professional - HOWEVER - once I loaded OS 6 the BBSAK application can not detect my 9700 and it hangs/freezes once I open up BB Desktop Manager. I'd really like to find a way to wipe my device again if possible since I messed up the OS install and want to start over.

Second question/comment - I'm trying to use the BB Hybrids tool listed here:
BBHybrids Tool (Public Version) - Downloads - BBHybrids Forums
and I'm having issues knowing what to remove/not remove. Does anyone have a list of the .COD files that can be removed to slim down these newer OS'es? I'm getting sick and tired of the trial & error and need my phone back...

I'd like to dump all the languages, all the shortcuts to things like myspace, youtube, media, GPS software, etc. etc. There was some pretty comprehensive documentation for the older BB 8800 series a while back but I can't find anything on our 9700 OS-5xxx or OS-6xxx. I love the OS-6 but it is very large and I run a few pretty memory-hogging 3rd party applications for work so I need (must have not want to have) the extra space free'd up.

Thx.

EDIT: There seem to be TWO versions of this OS out there... which one is better?

9700jAsia_PBr6.0.0_rel1478_PL6.6.0.86_A6.0.0.380_V odafone_Essar_Limited.exe

and

9700M_PBr6.0.0_rel1478_PL6.6.0.86_A6.0.0.380_Mobil icity.exe

EDIT #2: So I just loaded up the Canadian Mobilcity version and no issues so far - much much better than the Vodafone version fwiw... I was only able to install the full (all of the .cod files) Vodafone version and when I went to my BB Desktop Manager it said there was an update (like the pic below). When I went to update I was getting an error message that it was for the wrong device and BB DT Manager wanted me to downgrade back to OS-5xxx. I googled the "update" that was available and got this version (above) which seems to be for Canada????

Thought I would share. I was able to use the BB-Hybrids Tool to delete a ton of .COD files from my install making my overall install down to 81mb.

try right-clicking on the icon and choosing "run as administrator" - when prompted enter your administrative user name and password...it's the only way mine would run on same OS.

Hate to bombard this page with posts - do you guys/gals have any links/resources to non-essential .cod or apps/stuff that can be removed from this OS before install? I'm to the point that I can get a stable FULL install but I'd like to cut things down - when I cut down to what I did on my 8820 things break/fail.

Feels like the old approach with the older OS'es was "i know what i need remove everything else" and with this I feel like I need to be carefully choosing what to remove because everything is linked...

thoughts??

I take things down to 80-95mb but then have issues and when I analyze the OS build I only show 80-90mb free which leads me to believe that I'm either missing a step or something is botched.

Look into BB Boss OS Shrinker. One of our members says it worked great for his OS 6 setup.

It was I that said it worked well, I have used it on my 6.0 OS installs and it works like a charm for me and runs smoothly. It is overall a good program and one for you folks to take a look into. right now I use BB Boss V1.1
