I noticed when I open a message on my Blackberry it marks it read on my Outlook, I am on BES. I was wondering why it doesn't mark the message read when I open up the message on outlook on the Blackberry?

It should but it doesn't happen immediately.

Similar question, on BIS using GMail, should we notice this behavior?

I'm used to WinMo with IMAP marking it read, but not on the BlackBerry.

If you set up Gmail to use IMAP it will work this way, but you lose the "instant" push, it goes to the 15 min polling cycle.

If you use the basic simple email setup, by default it will use POP3. If you dont eneter your password, and chose to manually enter the IMAP setting, it will work like this, but again, you lose instant push.

Ah, well that sucks. Do you know if there any plans to change this?

No. Reconciliation isn't supported on POP. It's a limitation of the protocol, IIRC. I'm not sure why there's a delay with IMAP.
