Default Thinking of an 8703 for Sprint

Please Login to Remove!

Hey All.. been ahwile since i've posted here. I'm thinking of getting a BlackBerry again. I had the 7105G and didnt like the small screen. I used someones 8703 and loved the bigger screen. Anyone here have Sprint and an 8703 that can tell me what to expect or should I try to get the 8830? I'm going to have to buy the phone used since my contract still has 10 months left. LMK what you guys think!

The 8703 is a solid device, but if you have the option I'd recommend the 8830. Make sure you get the new $30 Blackberry (BIS) plan if you can, too, if you don't already have it.

I very much prefer the trackball devices over the trackwheel any day. Much easier to navigate, and the trackball eliminates a lot of steps (simply clicking on an email opens it with the trackball vs. having to click the wheel or press the Enter key).

Plus you'll be able to get a microSD card and put pictures, music, ringtones, on the device (4GB is the largest size supported for that device/OS).

My 2 cents

I will have to agree with juwaack here. The 7803 is a solid device. I like the keypad on the 8703 better. However, as already stated the trackball is much better IMO. It will probably take you a day or 2 to get used to the trackball, but once you do (if you decide on the 8830) you will love it.

Default 8703 much better

I work for Sprint BB technical support and I would highly highly recommend the 8703 if you are not looking to do music or media. I work everyday on these phones and hardly ever see an issue with that device.

Default 8703 Nightmare with Sprint in Ohio

Hi Ive been a Nextel customer for 5 years, after being called numerous times and me calling customer service researching Sprint I decided to finally switch over. Was told Sprint would solve all of my service issues. I had a BB7520 worked like it should but was having phone service issues. So I go out and get me a new 8703 ahhh a nice new toy. 2nd day I had it I ran into problems with it powering itself off and on. Hmmm whats with this. I go back to the Sprint store and the sales guy says hes having the same problem. I call customer service, after being transferred and explaining my store half a dozen times, they say they have no service issues with BB 8703's rebooting. Then it became worse. It would reboot 3-4 times during the day during an hour. I own a limo/transportation company, key in my gps to the address im going to. get 3/4 of the way there and ohh guess what its rebooting. Called customer service again,, this went on and on for 2 months now. Only falling on deaf ears at Sprint. Between rebooting and dropped calls Its just rediculous. Oh yeah and some customer service manager offerend me a $10 discount. I pay almost $300 a month with all the features I have on my BB.

2 Months still, no help. Sales guy did replace my phone with same model and have same issues. Sprint still expects me to pay full price, no discounts no nothing. Terrible customer service.

Customer retention told me pretty much to go "F" myself and that they were still gonna hit me up for the $200 if I get fed up and cancell my account. Now my account is sitting at $1000 oh yeah and as a joke they didnt honor the rebates on the new phones either.

Ive given Sprint 2 months now to make this right and all I get Is "we are looking into it" But no service discount NOTHING

I have a Sprint 8703 I'm going to sell. I switched to a Pearl but the 8703 has a much better keyboard, larger screen and the wheel that I prefer. I'm going to stick with the Pearl but if you don't need a memory card and can do without a camera I would say the 8703 would be your best choice. Email me at [email address] if you are interested in mine.

I love my 8703 for Sprint but it does reboot itself every now and then. It's never an issue but mine also reboots. I love the GPS on it and the big screen and big keyboard. I probably wouldn't upgrade it for an 8830 but I WOULD upgrade it for a Curve if it ever comes to Sprint. I don't mention the Pearl because you, like many others, want a full keyboard and that's what I like about the 8703. You won't regret it.
