Default HELP: replace Bold lcd LENS for using aftermarket colored housing

Please Login to Remove!

I am going for a complete aftermarket housing for my gf Bold, but I really would like to replace the original lcd Lens with the one that comes with the colored housing so to have either the screen and the all housing with the same color.

Can someone please tell me how can I go for removing the original lens from the Bold lcd and how can I attach the new one??

Tthank you!

There are videos on how to disassemble all the Bold for the complete lcd replacement....but NOT for replacing only the lens of the lcd so to change the black colored glass qith some other colored one from thirdparty housing!

If you have found some youtube videos about this, can you please link it here??

Thank you all!

DO NOT TRY. This is my advice. I just got my new housing on Friday this past week, tried to remove the lens, and cracked the LCD in half. I now have a blackberry bold in new housing without a working screen, and a new LCD screen (73 dollars) coming on Monday or Tuesday. It's a really difficult task, which requires blowdriers, peanut butter, double sided tape... I'd just say skip it and keep the black screen, it's much better than breaking your LCD screen and needing a new one.

Honestly, I didn't even get that far. I read up on it, and was told you need to use a blowdrier to melt the double ended tape, then peanut butter or some other chemicals you can buy to get the double sided tape off the lens, then new double sided tape to put your new lens on. I put a blowdrier on my lens for about 5 minutes and tried taking it off, and tore the LCD screen in half. I haven't been able to use my phone since last week on Friday, when I immediately ordered a new screen that *should* be coming today.

Unless you want to be out approx 75 dollars and 5 days without your phone, I'd suggest not giving a rat's ass about the peanut butter. It's *really* not a good idea.

I agree with the above friends. DON'T TRY.
I already broke one screen :(

The better way that i found to change color is to search for screen protector with color. (i cant put links) Go to ebay and search this : "WHITE SCREEN PROTECTOR STICKER FOR BLACKBERRY BOLD 9000"

Is the safer way and you change more of one color
