Default What is 'wiping handheld'?

Please Login to Remove!

I've asked this before but haven't got a good response: what does it mean to 'wipe handheld.'?

I am getting some bizarre stuff when I synch up my calendar with my outlook...like every holiday showing up 6 times, like end dates for recurring items being set to 2045 and other weird stuff.

If I wipe the handheld, what all gets erased? I've installed no other applications at all and keep all contacts, appts, emails on my Exchange account at the office. The only thing even slightly custom are a few pictures I've downloaded.

How painful is it to recover from 'wipe handheld' and what does it actuall 'wipe'?

Wiping the handheld means deleting the os and all of your info on it. Be sure to back up all of your data in the desktop manager before doing so though.

you would have to install the bb's software and if u back up all your data then you can put it on there through desktop manager

Another approach...

On the BB itself there is a Wipe Handheld option. That does NOT wipe out the OS and applications; it clear all customer information.

I would try that first (Options / Advanced / Security / General Security) - then click the trackwheel and select "Wipe Handheld".

See if that helps first. If not, you will have to erase the OS and programs and reload them.

Yep...NJ Blackberry gave an accurate answer (always does) Wiping the handheld from the settings does not get it completely cleared. I did this a couple days ago and it leaves the OS and all of the applications.

trigga15... I think it's time you went to the repair shop to have your sarcasm meter checked. I'm pretty sure yours is broken.

His sentence forming function also seems to be somewhat limited..

Perhaps an upgrade to EG 4.2 software would help??? (EG=English Grammar)
