Default Play music to bluetooth earpiece on 8100?

Please Login to Remove!

Used to be able to do this w/ pocket pc and an ipaq and would love to get this feature on a bberry. I know the restrictions on bluetooth are taken off w/ the consumer-oriented 8100. Have any of you new pearl users been able to listen to music via bluetooth?

What are you referring to about bluetooth headsets? The 7100T has been supporting bluetooth headsets for quite some time now.

I don't know if the 8100 supports A2DP headsets though

Bluetooth headphones (using A2DP) are not supported on the 8100.

Bluetooth headsets are an audio gateway only. ie can only make and receive phone calls through them. Not act as a wireless speaker (different protocols)

Well that kinda sucks. Can you play music thru a wired earpiece?
Being that its designed for the consumer space, why NOT give it ad2p? Is there a potential security risk there?

Wired earpieces should work fine for music.

Wired headsets do work fine.

There may be a potential security issue with AD2P (or is it A2DP? i can never remember), but i doubt it. I think this may be more of a case of just trying to get the base functionality for new features before adding the extras.

it seems to me that its just a matter of time before this problem is resolved. I dont know everything there is to know about BT but theres got to be a way around the 8100 not having A2DP now but somehow adding it to the systems kernal/firmware. The technology is present in the phone its just that its not "factory enabled" Or am I just dreaming?

Does anyone know if its possible to listen to your mp3's in the media player on your 8100 through your bluetooth.

When I have my blutooth on and I'm listening to an mp3 via the speaker on the blackberry and a call comes in, once the call ends I hear the music through my bluetooth for about 2 seconds and then i can only hear it if I place the phone up to my ear. Is there a way to listen to music with your bluetooth headset. I have a motorolla 7100 bluetooth.

Default Bluetooth audio somewhat working!

have a Plantronics Discovery 640 headset and after starting the media player and a song I can hold the BT connect button for 2 seconds which transfers the song to the headset. Normally this button would start voice dial if I were not in the media player. The only issue with this is it drops to speaker in-between every song because of the los of audio. Movies work great staying connected the entire time.

Hope this helps!

Default Bluetooth audio somewhat working! - UPDATE

I just tried it again and now it does not work.
Voice dial was broken where it would not open at all. that is why it allowed the audio to come through indef. until the audio stream stopped. I did manage to watch all of Stewie Griffin Untold Story through the Bluetooth though. After that I tried to use Voice dial and it was broke. I pulled the battery to fix it and now media player will not come through the BT anymore.

Maybe someone can use this info to figure out a way to do it.

EMOrtal.

they make the ht820 they worked great on my moto v3x but the pearl only allows you to make and take phone calls via bluetooth but, they come with a 3 foot cable that can be attached to the pearls headphone jack with an adapter and will provide full function...just through a wire instead of bluetooth.

Default No Way! 8100 and HT820?

I just bought a set of HT820 at lunch, and charged 'em up.

Paired to my 8100 just fine, but worked only for phone, even though the bluetooth properties SAID that they were for phone and headset... music no go.

I saw the cable, but it was 2.5mm on one end, and 3.5mm on the other end. It looked to me that the jack on the side of the HT820 was 2.5mm, and you'd then plug the standard 3.5mm headphone plug into a standard MP3 player, FMstereo, laptop headphone jack, airplane headphone jack, etc.

I came to this forum to learn *why* the HT820 wouldn't play the 8100's music. Printed it, and brought it to the very apologetic young man at Radio Shack, who promptly gave me a refund.

At this point, I intend to find a stereo handsfree mic-earbud set, cut the earbuds off ('cuz they don't stay in my ears anyway, my ears are built weird), and solder them to a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, then seal the sucker together with hot glue. Ugly, yes, but functional.

Really STUPID that they don't mass-produce and sell that exact thing at every mobile-phone store that sells bb-pearls. I mean really... isn't this thing all about doing media better than most phones? Why not open things up to people who have GOOD HEADPHONES?

Idiots.

I just picked up the HT820 Bluetooth stereo headphones yesterday - and I had the exact same experience - I was playing MP3s, but they would not come through the wireless headset. However, if I received or placed a call, after the call was done, you could hear a half second snipit of the song in the background. I thought I was getting close.... but I guess not based on the info in this thread. It SHOULD work, because I definately heard the stereo music for that half second.

Does anyone know if this will ever change, with a firmware update, or something?

Anyways, I have been enjoying the headset for listening to TV from my home theater when my room mate it trying to sleep in the next room, and if a call comes in, it beeps in the earpiece. They work pretty well - it would have been a home run if the MP3s in the Pearl came through.

Anyone have any technical details why it works for that half second? Is it that A2DP stuff holding it back?

Thanks,

Steve

Thats just it. We're lacking A2DP BT Stack that were needing. The MDA guys have been able to add this to their phones, and I'm hoping someone will be able to figure it out for ours too.

Something similar happens with my Moto A1200...but there is a hack for it. Using the A1200...you would hit the voice command button...go to menu then cancel while it was talking then go into your media player and start to play a song and bam...streaming music into your mono BT headset.

I just had radiobee streaming through the pearl over the speaker and my wife called and I put my bluetooth headset on and I could hear radiobee just fine AND my wife talking to me. I asked her if she could hear it (radiobee) and she said no. There has to be a way to do this.
I think if we give it some time someone will figure it out.
The pearl has only been out for 2 months. How long has the MDA been out?
