Why does it say it doesn't support VZ(if it supports the 8830)? Do you download for the 8800?

How do you remove a program? I installed the 4.0 and it isn't right for the 8830

Go to options and applications. Then highlight the application and hit menu/delete. Really easy.

BTW, my Opera works again. I think it was something with the Sprint OS, but not certain.

So no conflicts using Opera mini ? I tried having the Google apps on my BB desktop, but they conflicted with the regular browser, so I couldn't get online at all until I deleted them.

Out of curiousity, why Opera?

I hate Opera. The web pages show up HUGE. Plus, I prefer to surf some of the sites in the mobile version by default so it doesn't take forever to pull up.

I hate how websites look so freakin big on Opera so I switched back to BB.

Actually I'd have to disagree with you entirely here. One major hate I have against the BB is that it lacks in the web browsing department. It absolutely sucks when it comes to rendering webpages correctly. This is where Opera does a better job at it. I don't know about you, but I want the ability to dictate on if I want a website to be displayed as it would in a PC browser or in a mobile version. I don't want a cutdown version that doesn't work half the time displayed by default. RIM's browser blows. Even a Windows Mobile device does a better job at browsing. I want the full page, I'll make the choice on how I want it displayed. Everyone with a Windows Mobile or iPhone is laughing at everyone with a BB when it comes to browsing sites. RIM knows this and they are trying to improve things (hopefully we'll see something in 4.3.0). Until then, the only other option is Opera Mini.

For those of you who think the BB is good at rendering sites I urge you to try and hit newegg.com and see what you get. Not only that, but that page is not the only one that has these issues. You hit any major sites and you'll get "cut down" and poorly reordered displays due to the RIM proxy server's lacking abilities. Last thing I need when I'm trying to look something up on the Internet while away from a PC is incompatibility from the retarded BB browser. Opera's servers seem to have the ability to display pages better, why can't RIM. It's just a joke.

to me the screen is too small to do any real surfing anyway. I barely ever use the BB browser and I didnt like opera it didnt work well for me either. So I just tether up the laptop if I need to surf the web.

Right Dawg, i agree with you. But often I/you/anyone may run into a situation where you dont have a laptop and need to see a full html site. This is where opera comes in handy for me. If i am simply browsign WAP, it really doesnt matter to me which browser I use. But opera does handle HTML sites much more elegantly thank the BB Browser.

I dont browse to many full blown html sites so i guess thats why it doesnt bother me that much. I just never could get used to opera. Beside like I said the tiny screen aint much for viewing web pages anyways but hopefully I will have the 8830 before weeks end

I used to use 3.x, but recently decided to go to the 4.x beta and I like it a little better. It does an initial display of the entire page with a little square (size of actual zoomed screen) on the page which you use to select a certain portion of the page to view on the little screen. Of course you can't read the zoomed out view, but it gives you an idea of the layout. What I really like is that the logic behind it is so much better at rendering then RIM is and it doesn't sacrifice performance either. In all reality, it seems to drain the battery less on my BB then the RIM browser does belive it or not.

I admit I'm new to BlackBerry, but I tried out Opera Mini after reading this thread, and I love it ! I made the font small, and that enables me to see the web pages as they appear on my computer. I like it a lot better than the preloaded browser, so I use it pretty much exclusively now. The font setting was important though. When I first loaded it, the pages looked crappy, but when set to small, they look great. VERY usable !!

Ok, Opera Mini is trying to use the TCP (regular way of the connection to internet). But, when using tcp, you pay money for the data you received and sent.

Since I have a data plan that only coverages the BlackBerry apn based connections, opera mini is useless for me, because i don't want to pay extra for the extra data.
