Default GPS and Blackberry Pearl BASICS????

Please Login to Remove!

I'm new to Blackberry maps. I'd like to be able to use the BB maps to track my movement. I have an Acura TSX with GPS navigation and bluetooth. I have connected the BB to the Car. But BB doesn't see it as a GPS receiver. Can anyone think of something that I still need to do? or doing wrong?

I have the following questions:
1. When everybody talks about having a GPS receiver, do you need the receiver to sync ONLY once? or Do you need to have the receiver contantly to see your movement, speed etc on BB Maps?
2. If you need the receiver always, do you have to carry that along with the phone for BB Maps nav to work?

I really appreciate any help. Thanks!

The GPS receiver in your Acura isn't designed to sync with anything. You'll need a Bluetooth puck of some sort to use GPS on your Pearl.

The answers to your other two questions is yes. Yes you need to have it constantly, and yes, it has to be with the phone.

I use a Holux GPSlim236 bluetooth GPS device. It is quite small and works very well with the Blackberry Pearl Maps. You can find these on eBay for $79.00.

Same here! I have the 236b though. Very nice devices from Holux!

I use the GlobalSat BT-359 with my 8100. Used it also with my 8703e. Works great.

My general experience is Delorme units are not very good. Try before you buy. I have an Earthmate something that someone gave me. Crap. Doesn't work through windows like other ones do.

Interesting, I've heard a lot of good about DeLorme. I've seen a lot of posts about Holux, I might have to give that a try.

thanks

I looked at that too. How much did you get yours for brucejr? I saw it for about $129 I think.
