Well the first one to come out will not have wifi (Cingular Version). But i guess the rest of the carriers will enable it.

I wonder when the camera version of it is coming out. I'm holding out until then.

I am just disappointed that this won't have Wi-Fi at launch. Bad call on Cingular's part. Now I am not as open to purchasing it, or just waiting till June and seeing if that camera version is out by then.

So is the WiFi only disabled on Cingular's 8800 or is it not there at all?

If it is disabled would unlocking it and using it with another carrier enable the WiFi?

from the way BG worded it, sounds like the receiver isn't in Cingular's version.

I reported in another thread already that the 8800 won't have wifi but the 8820 will. Neither will have a camera.

The camera version will be slimmer than the 8800 and will essentially be the Qwerty pearl.

Did anyone see in the comments section of BG's report on the 8800, that someone had posted an offer to sell some 8800's?
It was there last night, but gone this morning....

Anyone? Anyone?

I'm sure it was deleted due to NDAs or possible lawsuit action. Things like that get posted here on occasion but the mods are pretty quick to weed them out (thankfully).

did anyone pick up on that the wifi is going to be for things like surfing the net? I know before we were all speculating that it was only for users doing UMA. Any thoughts?

Well, a ex Rim employee came into the store last night to get an account becuase he had just recently left Rim and was now working for another company. I was trying to pry some info from him but he didnt really release too many tid bits that I didnt already know (but the general public might not).

There is indeed a wifi device coming out very soon after the launch of 8800. All the new devices run on GPS and apparently it works really well. He didnt know the model #s I was speaking about only the "momma bear" code names. Nor did he spill the beans about any top secret stuff but Im really happy to hear that the GPS is going to actually be a functional tool.

Maybe someone bought them and he removed the offer?

That's exactly what I would consider when the time comes. I've read many posts about the need for or the interest in having a camera. For my needs, I do use the camera often on my Pearl, I just took several cool Super Bowl shots that came out great. I'll look towards the fall for the 88xx with wifi and camera. The wait won't be too hard for me.

Interesting that the site shows three posts, but only two appear. It must have been pulled.
