Default Poor ringtone/vibrate

The ONLY negative I have found about this device is the speaker is obviously smaller than that of the 9000 and thus the ringtones are quite a bit harder to hear and the vibrate strength is not as strong as the 9000. This was the same issue with the 8900 which is why it wasn't as big a seller in my opinion. The speaker placement on the 9700 is on the back so when it is on a soft surface it makes the alerts difficult to hear.

Other than that, great device. Optical trackpad is very responsive!!

Perhaps an OS update will correct the volume of the ringtones and alerts. In the past I've owned BlackBerry devices that weren't that loud but an OS update corrected that and the ringtones and alerts were a little louder.

The vibrate strength is at LEAST double that of the 9000 if not more?? ??

I agree! The 9000 was notorious for its feeble vibrate and although the 9700 is not in the same league as the 7000's(which can rattle your coffee off the desk :smile) it is much better than the 9000 for sure.

Maybe this is just too subjective? Anyone else want to weigh in with vibrate strength or do a side by side comparism?

See, Ive not found a problem with my 9000 vibrate.
Its no different than my Nokia N95 was, or my sony ericsson w850 (i think that was the model).
But the 9000 is the only blackberry ive had, so I cant compare to earlier models.

I hated the vibrate on the 9000. I missed more calls than I care to think about. The 9700 is better but still could be stronger for my liking.
