Well, one would think that somebody would figure out which serial number sequence went throught that assembly line....

Default When I spoke with the contact

He said they were putting the users' pins in a spreadsheet and figuring a way to get the defective units back. This may take a little time. I spoke with him early last week. Patience. Nice guy.

Great news guys!

That's great. I am still waiting for mine. How long did it for them to send the replacement starting from the call you received from RIM?

See guys, a little patience pays. I told you they really do care about their product and their reputation. The problem is being addressed as you can see.

Keyboard is tight and the holster is the new revised one. I don't know if I would call the top surface "rubber" though. (Where the top of the holster meets the top front of the BlackBerry 8700c face.

Still - no complaints and I'm grateful for the way RIM handled the situation overall.

Thanks to barjohn and jnelson!

I spoke with RIM on 1/9/06. I received my replacement unit today (1/16/06). From the FedEx tracking number, it looks like it was shipped priority from RIM on 1/13/06.

Basically, I spoke to RIM on Monday. They shipped on Friday and I received it Monday... one week after the call.

I agree with John. Patience will help here. Keep in mind that I spoke with RIM before they had started working through calling folks on the list. So, I'm sure that others will arrive this week.

Well already at first glance i notice differences in my 8700. The place under the battery where the SIM slides in is a little different. The holster is the new revised once...there is no light escaping anywhere that it used to and the keyboard feels tighter.

high praise for RIM

Hey, you guys are ahead of me! I haven't received mine yet I will be patient since I pushed to have everyone else taken care of and It isn't critical to me yet. I hope to soon be out of the relay business as they are able to get new units into the distribution channel. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support. I know it can be frustrating. And thanks for not inundating me with repeat PMs as I had plenty as it was and wanted to make sure that I could respond to everyone as quickly as possible.

I've made contact with them on Sunday, they replied today saying it will ship out today, they are even sending it to me here in the UK! Fantastic service, many thanks BarJohn for getting the contacts.

Has anyone taken a pic of their replacement to post here?

Thanks to barjohn and jnelson for everything that they have done. I received my replacement device today and am thrilled that this issue has been taken care of.

Standing ovation goes out to the two of you for taking the time to help the rest of us out!
