I guess if it is so risky to buy a Bold off of eBay now how come Crackberry.com seemed to have gotten such a free pass comparitively.

...not sayin' I didn't enjoy and appreciate the coverage.. cause I did.
Crackberry didn't "find" a Bold. Kevin risked his own money in biting the bullet and purchasing one. He spent a good deal of money and now is basically eating it since he has a device that no longer works.

I enjoyed the coverage, too, but I don't think that he bought the Bold assuming that nothing was going to happen to it.

Does anyone have proof it was stolen, where are the documents, the smoking gun? Just because RIM turned off his SIM does NOT mean it was stolen. They could have likely turned it off because they did not authorize that device to be used. So unless someone can prove without a doubt it was stolen they should consider how they cast that first stone without refutable proof.

How about we just work with simple logic. Those that are supposed to have it, have it. Those that are not supposed to have it do not.

Those that are supposed to have it are not supposed to give/sell it to those that are not.

Personally, I think Crackberry.com was "given" one and eBay just makes for a good story. Like I said, I am likely wrong but it ain't out of the question.

Either way, someone who supposedly was not supposed to have one has one and there you have it.... unless of course they were "supposed" to have it...

We would all love to believe that these "spy photos" or "sneak peaks" or "eBay finds" are all behind the scenes and exciting..

sorry to burst your bubble(s) but it is not uncommon for manufacturers to give/show devices to these sites for their feedback as well as (interested enough to follow such sites) public response.

Perhaps if he hadnt shouted to everyone that he did buy one, maybe it would of been kept under the radar from RIM and still would be active?

The fact that the pictures clearly show a sticker thats states Property of Research in Motion would be my first clue.

This theory could be believeable if it weren't for the fact that Kevin's Bold has been disabled by RIM. If they meant for him to have it they wouldn't have disabled it.

How do you figure it adds street credit? It just shows me that its not a legitimate device.

It was just a joke in response to John Clark debunking my theory... knew it was pretty thin to begin with...

RIM should just give crackberry.com say $50k for all of the advertising their own PR firm couldn't get done. I wonder how many of you have d/l music, movies etc without buying it, were given a bootleg of something etc. If you haven't then your are safe, if you have you are no better than Crackberry.com under Dawg's view. My point for the sake of conversation and not argument is I don't care how it arrived there or what he paid for it, what I care about is what it can do and that based on his review I want it. So RIM will have sold how many units based on CrackBerry's story.
