Default SMS from numbers not in your Address Book always use profile exceptions.

Please Login to Remove!

I am running 4.5.0.138, updated from 4.5.0.131 in hopes of fixing this problem, and every time I get a text message from a number that is not in my Address Book it always uses the sound from one of my exceptions instead of the default tone of the active profile.

For example, I created a profile for my friend so her SMS will still sound at night and then set an exception with just her name to use that profile. Whenever I get an SMS from facebook, or any person not in my address book it will use the exception I set for her.

You can test it by setting an exception to use a different profile for someone in your address book. Then take your number out of your address book (if you have it in there) and send an SMS to yourself. It should use that exception instead of the active profile.

I realize this is quite old, but I'm searching for a solution to the same problem. I'm using a Pearl 8130 running 4.5.0.77. It's quite annoying that senders NOT in my address book are waking me up at 3am and interrupting my meetings when my berry is set to "quiet"!!

Side note: the tone it is using is: Notifier_EtVoila. I'm wondering if unknown SMS senders always use this tone or if the berry is in fact using my exception profile.

It does it with any tone. I use a custom mp3, and that is what plays.

I just picked up a new Tour 9630 on Sprint, and this is STILL a bug. To make matters worse, exceptions have been replaced with "Contact Alerts". Now, there is no way to disable an contact alert, you have to delete it, and then recreate it when you want it back *sigh*. On the positive side they added a custom message tone so you don't have to create a custom profile anymore. So instead of being fixed, it got worse.

Am I the only one that sees these issues as problems?
