Not exactly. With the bundled plans you get the BES support, and up until a few months ago that plan was saving you money as opposed to having the voice and data seperate. Now that the prices have dropped and if you have no need for a BES you can save even more.

sorry for so many questions! :P

i've attached two pics..
The $29.99 plan is EVDO.
You have the proper plan on the account from what the screen shot shows.
No, this will not extend your contract in any way.

I just called and they put me on the $29.99 "Email and Web for Blackberry" plan. I was on the $79.99 plan which includes 450 minutes and the BB unlimited data plan. They changed me to the $39.99 450 minutes plan and the $29.99 "Email and Web for Blackberry" plan which ends up saving me $10.

The gal I talked to knew what I was talking about and seemed pretty knowledgeable. I think if you get a less seasoned CSR, they may not know what this plan is. I would suggest that before you call to do this, go to VZW's wireless website, go to phones, select the 8830, on the next page select a minutes plan, and then the next page shows the two different options for BB data which are "Email and Web for Blackberry" for $29.99 and "Blackberry Solution Unlimited Data Usage" for $44.99. If you distinguish between the two different plan names when you are on the phone with them, they can probably figure it out.

As is mentioned in this forum and was also mentioned to me by the woman that helped me from VZW, the only difference in these plans is that you can not do the cheaper one if you are using BES. That's it. Otherwise they are the same (except, of course, the price). She confirmed with me that the only change I will see is the price.

Okay, so do I have this correct? If we host a BES ourselves then we can not go with the $29.99 plan? Or am I mistaken and Verizon actually hosts BES for you if you want, and that is what is not included.

Seems kinda silly if I am right and we get charged more for hosting a BES.

i went round and round with a CSR the other day and kept getting told that the $30 plan was 10MB only, not unlimited. after 10 minutes of back and forth i finally gave up...she said the only reason i had it before for $30 was because i had higher minute plan and it was the old nationwide, not america's choice... i dont need BES so if possible id rather save the $10...

Sorry you had to deal with another misinformed rep. If you like I can do it for you. Shoot me a PM and I can get it done.

Question?

What do I get with the 44.99 Unlimited Data Plan? I was told that I just got the Data Plan and still had to use my minutes from phone plan in addition? I never really cared much because my minute usage was low but with the Slingplayer soon to be released I am somewhat concerend.

Also I called about the 29.99 plan and the CSR had no clue.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I understand that. I don't need BES. What about minute usage? Am I using minute usage every time I connect to the WEB or Push Email?

Minutes are not used for data transfer.

I verified this today by changing from the 44.99 to the 29.99 plan. The service rep was very much aware of this and very happy to make the change. If you can't beat it into your rep, just ask for another one.

Last I looked on Verizon's site this was a $2 per MB of data plan.... not unlimited. Can someone point me to where it says unlimited?

That is for a standard voice plan, which is not available for Blackberrys. We are refering to the $45 and $29 unlimited data plans.

It's just that i am looking on Verizon's site itself... and the cheapest unlimited plan for a blackberry is 80 bucks a month. Perhaps my area does not have the cheap unlimited?
