Default BMW vs. 8800 Bluetooth --- please help

Please Login to Remove!

I have searched the forum and the internet for this and I am not getting what I need. Everytime I try to pair my 8800 with 2005 525i, I get nothing. The BMW just had the firmware updated and clearly has bluetooth as you can turn it on and off in the idrive menu. I read all over the palce how people are using their BMW BT with their blackberrys older than the 8800.

I go into the BT menu on the 8800, with the idrive menu open to BT settings. I tell the 8800 to add a new device with it being discoverable and always on, etc etc. Both my 8800s cannot find the BMW as a device.

My Audi works PERFECTLY. But the phones cant find the BMW

Any help on what you guys did to get them to connect would be much much help, the dealership is useless.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 7250: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

That's strange. What version Progman (BMW iDrive firmware) are you using? I believe the latest is 24.00 or 25.00. My 8800 synced without a hitch to my BMW. It appears you know what you're doing if you were able to add it to your Audi. Not to advertise another forum, but I know that bimmerfest.com has a thread specifically dedicated to bluetooth issues. You may want to check there as well.

The solution is simple, sell the 5 and get another Audi... A6 works great with it and AWD 3.2FSI A6 would be a far better ride than a 525i. Of course I still recommend the v8

Make sure your 5-series is also searching at the same time as the BB. For some reason this is how it works on my '07 Coupe. I am not yet using the 8800, as it arrives either tomorrow or the day after, but I'll report back if I remember...

Default Similar BT problem with BMW 5

I have a similar issue with connecting to the BMW (2007 make) BT handsfree.
It does connect initially and then drops after 15 sec's.
Anybody has a solution ?

Also posted on the other thread - I happen to have a Vodafone 8800 and a T-mobile 8800. The Vodafone one doesn't work unless you reboot the phone before you start the BMW, the T-mobile one works fine. It may be a system software difference on the phones (or Service books?) - I haven't had a chance to track down the issue with the Vodafone phone (but given the T-mobile one works I haven't had much incentive to try and figure it out).

would it work on a Yugo - with a Bluetooth puck duck taped to the roof. While drinking a slushie in the rain as I use my Motorola Startac phone?

Ok - It's Saturday I'm bored . . .. .. .

on the BMW website i know there is a list of supported devices. My father had this issue while purchasing his phone because he had to pick a device that his BMW could sync with. I think it may be a software issue in the BMW itself. You may try contacting the dealership to see if they can provide you with any updates to support newer devices? -just a thought...i could be terribly wrong

Of course a 3.2 A6 is better than a 525i. (Barely) Step up to a 550i then we're talking a whole new ball of wax.

Far as the BT goes, just have both devices searching at the same time. Then iDrive will ask you for the password. Once paired you have to go back into iDrive and select the phone as your device (it will be in the list)
