Default Searching for Network

Please Login to Remove!

Ok so i searched and searched and don't find a thread with this exact issue. I have a 8700g from t-mobile running 4.2.107. Everything works but when I'm in call log the display says "Searching for Network..." even though i have "EDGE" in the upper corner and 4 bars and i can make phone calls. Poping the battery doesn't solve it. Like I said everything works i just don't know why it would display that when i am fully connected.

Any Ideas? It's really more of an annoyance than anything else.

That is strange. And it ONLY says that from the phone dial screen, not from the Homescreen?

Exactly. Homescreen says "T-Mobile" as does the message screen.

That is interesting. I'm using 8700g on tmo, too, and have never noticed anything like it. On other ideas to try, perhaps change to another theme and see what happens, and switch back. Also try turning radio off and back on. But I have doubts either will work. Just stabs in the dark.

This was a known bug in the OS. It's more of an annoyance than anything else as your network connection is still there, even though it says "searching for network."

ok so this time around the searching for network... appears when i'm in my message screen instead of the phone log. i know how to fix it now but there seems to be some bug with the BB Deminsion (Zen) theme.

Sounds like what John and Sith say, a bug. Apparently switching themes is temporary fix. Are you using latest available OS version? You could try upgrading if you are not.

I saw this on my 8700 this morning. I guess I just never noticed before. Searching for network on the message screen though I have bars. Switched to application screen and T-Mobile is shown. Back to message screen, still searching for network. Back to applications, T-Mobile. So, I turned off radio, counted to 5, switched it back on and went to messages screen, and T-Mobile is shown. Bottom line, I don't know if turning the radio off an on did anything or the the OS worked its way through the display hangup, or what. I'll live with it.

I wonder if the dropped calls I get with 4.2 on the 8700 has anything to do with the theme? It may be another bug with the 4.2 as yet not fully found. I never had any failed call issues with 4.1. Maybe I'll play with the themes and see if aiharkness is on to something. Could be simple solution.

I don't think I'm on to anything. It's a display bug by all appearnces. But I'm all for experiments!

Well you never know the internal links that Rim implants. I have a spare 8700 and I think I will play with this a bit.

i am using the latest OS provided by my carrier (4.2.107). i guess i could try the latest OS posted at the top of this board but really it's more of an annoyance than anything. hardly seems worth the 30-40 minutes to upgrade. seems i can live with it.
