bold on tmobile germany

Check this out.. July 21st for the release date. why does tmobile almost ALWAYS get new phones first? I thought the bold was going to be somewhat exclusive to at&t.

Can the German version be unlocked for US Tmo with compatible frequencies for 3G when it rolls out in my area?

T-Mobile Germany BlackBerry devices aren't locked and can be used with any carrier you want.

But will the 3G Bold from German work with Tmobile's 3G in the US?

I doubt if it will work on the new TMO 3G network. I think TMO is using different frequency bands here in the US.

That is correct. T-Mobile uses the 1700/2100 Mhz band which won't be compatible with any Bold currently being released. It will have to be a T-Mobile U.S. specific Bold for it to work.

The Bold specs I have seen stated "Network Support - UMTS: 2100 / 1900 / 850MHz, GSM: 1900 / 1800 / 900 / 850 MHz, GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA 1.8 Mbit/s & HSDPA 3.6 Mbit/s networks"

"Normal" Third-Generation (3G) Frequency Range:
Base transmit (BTx) 2110 - 2170 MHz
Mobile transmit (MTx) 1920 - 1980 MHz
BTx / MTx In TDD (Time Division Duplex) 1900 - 1920 MHz

However, I thought in the US, 1710xxx8211;1755 MHz and 2110xxx8211;2155 MHz will be used instead; as the 1900 MHz band was already utilized. (As also stated above)

So, all, should I say most, non US-specific 3G devices will not function properly within the US? And all US devices will mainly only work in the US?

So, the business users will have to switch devices when travelling????

(I understand this is not a RIM issue - a frequency problem)
