Yeah, there is a thread somewhere on here entitled "Butter Fingers.." and they talk about it, I have dropped mine a few times, not a mark on it yet. But since then, I put it in a case...

I dropped mine like 10 minutes after I first activated it. No scratches or anything but you get that weird feeling like its not as good as it was before you dropped it. The sad thing was that I was trying SO hard not to drop it that I was bobbling it in the air for a few seconds and it flew against my piano and onto the hardwood flooring. I hate myself for that.

We got a rubber case from VZW for it; doesn't feel like it will protect it from anything but edge marks (scratches/dings)

How do you return something you broke? unless you have the insurance...

That's pretty funny... which "build quality" are you talking about?

The phone didn't drop itself.

Now, imagine if you had an iphone: all you'd have left now would be a shattered piece of glass.

man i dropped mine today! chipped a piece off the top corner of the screen! could you still use insurance just to get a new one even if it isn't broken, just beat? haha.
man i have freaking OCD when it comes to stuff like this.
what sucks is i was going to call Customer Service to get a replacement because of the non responsive clicks in the bottom edges.
would they still replace it if theres a piece missing on my screen? haha

Default drop

man to tell you the truth i'm super OCD when it comes to phones.
after dropping it and having insurance it feels good to not baby a phone. i would have the silicone case, a screen protector, make sure my pockets aren't full of lint, make sure my keys are away from it, and i'm even anal when people are using my phone.
especially with the storm, it feels nice to just hold the phone and feel the natural size of it and not worry too much about it anymore.

I started out being super careful with my 8830, then over the last year I think I have launched it across the floor/room many many times and beyond a few small scratchs it looks great.. I hope RIM didn't make the storm flimezy.. all my BBs in the past have been rock hard drives that can take a beating..

I just dropped mine. I am 6'1" and was trying to put my phone up to my ear as I was walking in to work when it happened. It went from my ear to a concrete step about five feet in front of me. I can tell you the silver bezel is metal. I have some good dings in the bezel. The screen is fine. Maybe the half inch of snow helped cushion that blow. I got the snow off and dried without any problems. When I tried to use my phone it would not respond to any touch input. I pulled the battery and all is well again minus the scratches.

I do have insurance on the phone so I wasn't worried. I am torn as to whether I replace it now or have it for a few more months to see what other abuse I apply to it before replacing it.

I dropped mine getting out the car. I had it on my lap and forgot it was there and it fell straight on the concrete. Battery cover popped off and it sounded like it was destroyed.

I dropped mine on a concrete floor. It turned off and now I have a small scrape on the bottom right side of it

Dropped it on the carpet so obviously nothing happened. Working with my hands alot with small things that break easily, has gotten me in the habit of sticking my foot out to lessen the blow to the object. Worked for my enV because I would always get liquored up and drop that damn thing. Only a few scars on it because of my trusty foot.
