Default Skipping/Pausing

Please Login to Remove!

I downloaded the app onto my vzw 8703e today, and experienced the stuttering audio as well. It sounded a lot like trying to stream video or audio over then 'net on a PC when you dont have enough bandwidth to pull the stream down fast enough, causing a pause as the download 'catches up'

Running with this logic, i went into the settings and saw that the default buffer size was set to 10,000. I said 'what the hell' and added an extra 0 onto the end - so the buffer would be 100,000 and viola. The audio started streaming just fine.

Hope this helps.

Edit: The only downside that I can see is that when you stop the stream, it takes 5 or so seconds to stop - it continues to play until the cached audio is played. I'm sure if someone has the time/will to play around with different buffer sizes, a 'perfect' cache size can be found.

did you download the M version or the older one? I went back and tried the older one but was still unable to get sound out of my 8700c. Do I need to have another device on the unit ENABLED?

Well, for some reason it's not working on the 8700. Don't know why...Have tried numerous different settings.

On the 8100, if you go in and mess with the buffer settings, you can get it to stream.

I turned it on and let it play for 3 hours one day at work to test it and I had no issues with it whatsoever.

If you are mobile, like in a car going 30mph+, it increases your chances of getting it buffered correctly.

If you check out the radioBee Help/FAQ section it explains how to add your own station. Looked pretty easy to me from what it said.

So is it required to connect the headset or should I expect to hear the sound from the speaker if it works?

I upped the buffer as suggested by another poster in this thread, but still no-go on my 8100. I get the java error, click through it, select a station and get the message "now playing", but no sound through either speaker or headphones. The same thing happens with all the stations listed.

I can get the audio to play on my 8700, but it only plays for a little bit, then looks like it's buffering again. I'm trying to play with the settings to see if I can get more play time out of it.

WHat data promotion? The $100 200 meg plan?

There is no true unlimited on Rogers.. beware...!

Oh, and the streaming audio app is *BETA*, it's GOING to be broken. Give it time, radiobee.com is a great demonostration of what is possible.. the software will improve (and multiply) with time.

I'm using 8700G. THe only pre-loaded station that worked for me was MegaRock Radio. That also for only few seconds.
At one point I started the app and it said max socket connections. I simply turned off the radio and turned it back on. Ran the app again and it worked.
All in all great effort. I have no doubt that soon all BB addicts will be holding their BB on their shoulders like a BoomBox (BBBB)

There is a Rogers promotion on right now. A friend of mine who works for the company told me about it today so I called in to Customer Service and had it added to my account.

The promotion is 50% of your BlackBerry data pack and 3 months TRUE unlimited with no cap. So basically I downgraded my data pack to the $60 one (and I pay $30 for 3 months.) During the 3 months there is also no cap on the data usage. Before the 3 months is up I will upgrade my data pack again. This promotion is available to new customers. Existing customers are also eligible but you need to renew your term.

Tried it on an 8700C on Cingular. It works for about 2 seconds and then stops. I have tried the radio off/on and a hard reboot, but still the same result.

How did you get it to work on your 8700 Cingular device? What settings are you using for both radio bee and java?

Firsty,

Not sure I can really help you here without some specific questions. I simply installed OTA (both versions) and made no other changes to either the settings in Radio Bee or to the BB itself. As I said, it would play some of the stations for approximately 2 seconds before it stopped.

I am using Bharti OS, BIS. Otherwise, nothing special. If you would like me to look up any specific setting I may be using, I'd be more than happy too.

Default Challenged on my 8700c

I gotta belive that it can be done on the 8700 not until 4.2 OS is out.
I've been all over the web this weekend trying to figure out how it might work. If anyone has found a way to get it Radio Bee to work correclty beyond 2 seconds, please post what your settings are. Buffers, compressions, advanced settings, etc..

I think the issue has to do with the lack of an installed mp3 player.
