Default 8830 and Full Internet Access (https)

Please Login to Remove!

I have been researching into the Blackberry all morning and most of the afternoon. Before I waste an entire day on this can anyone help?

I understand based on the following post and several others that Blackberry's could not go onto https websites because the ports were closed. Then some companies fixed the ports. The following post explains how to run BES Internet software even if you don't have BES. Step 2 say to go to Options -> TCP. Here is my delima...neither of the two 8830's I am trying help have the option for TCP on their 8830.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me figure this out. These pilots are trying to view weather images on a https website. The website must stay https for the FAA to certify it as a QICP website...

Forget all that stuff in the thread you linked. Usually on CDMA carriers you don't have to worry about the TCP stuff. It's already set. Try this. In your browser go to Options->General->Default Browser and set it to Internet Browser. If it still doesn't work also set Options->Browser Configuration->Emulation Mode to Microsoft IE.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Thanks for you suggestions and I will make note of those settings for future phones, but still no gravy. The image file name appears but no image appears. We even cleaned out his cache.

Do you know what type of image it is? If it flash or something, that won't work, ever. GIF or JPG should be fine though. Unfortunately, some web sites just won't work on a Blackberry. You can try some of the other browser types and see if that helps.

Default Opera Mini

I sometimes have better luck with https sites using Opera Mini as compared to the default browser.

Default Still not fixed

Update. I was able to get another user from this forum to visit the website and he was able to see the images. So it must be some sort of setting on the blackberry but we couldn't figure it out.

Also for what it's worth, we are able to go to the unsecure website and see the same .gif images we are not able to see on the secure website.

I am begging for suggestions so I can let this one go and get some sleep.

The Verizon OS does not have TCP under Options, but if you run the Sprint OS on the 8830 from Verizon you have a TCP option under Options. I know I do.

Great! You are right, the TCP was not there under Options. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try that as soon as I get to work in the morning!

Great news! I got some sleep last night!

Here is what I am thinking thanks to lots of help from others (special thank you to Empty in the Head). I believe that both of my problem phones are Verizon and using the default Verizon OS. Is there anyone still using the default Verizon OS that would be willing to help me test this out? I'll give you a password to the website and you just tell me if you can see the images or not.

thanks to everyone for your help.

Default Make it 3 now...

I just received an e-mail on here from another company having the same problem with seeing GIF images on https website. So we're not the only website experiencing these problems.

Begging for a solution.
