Default Blackberry Web Desktop (HELP!)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone, I have successfully installed and configured the Blackberry Web Desktop (LDAP and all), but I am having issues with loading handheld code.

I have created many software configurations in the past, the process is not new to me. For whatever reason when I login to the BWD and launch the app loader then there is no software updates available (even though I have installed the software and configured it as per the installation documentation). Moreover, if I go directly to the Web Desktop server and launch app loader from my desktop I can see the installed software!

What am I doing wrong? I am pulling my hair out here.

So I was able to get this working by pointing the config file to the actual share and not the full server path as stated in the documentation.

Last question, how do I lock this down so users simply login, tether their device and a message pops up for them to install the software (I don't want them to have access to the app loader for other applications, or any other functions for that sake).

I appreciate any assistance with this.

Hi,

Sorry I saw your post and knew the answer but have been having a crazy week! Yeah I asked T-Support to get the documenation corrected as the format listed isn't correct.

If you want to limit WDM to only be used for OS updates and not applications you might have software configurations for you will need to create a seperate share.

I have edited the IT policy to force the install after 2 connections if it's not the latest version. I'll have to review my notes but there are two sections to edit.

policy to show an update is required
policy to force the load

hmm, but isn't the Web Desktop supposed to be used to avoid having to use software configurations? I have always used software configs, but we can't push OS updates (until the users are on 4.5), so how does a software configuration work with web desktop?

policy to show an update is required
policy to force the load

Where can I set these values?

Your making me work

IT Policies / Desktop Only Items

Edit these settings:

Force Load Count (I'm using 3) basically how many times they can connect before the upgrade is forced.

Force Load Message (mine is below)
Your Blackberry has an OS Upgrade Available, Please upgrade

I am using the same share that I use for my Software Configurations but as I noted you could use a seperate share to only feature OS updates using WDM.

Now if I could get the self signed cert to be replaced so users don't have to accept it I'd be happy

Are you using a test policy? I'd try to resend the policy to pick up the change.

Tried that, I have a test policy I use all the time. Everything works except for the message, weird.
