I dropped my BB in my hot tub.....
Please Login to Remove!
I thought this may help someone in the future who did the ultimate no no...
I opened my hot tub cover yesterday to check the chemicals, I saw something sitting at the bottom of the tub, so I reached in to grab it, and in doing so, my 7290 slipped out of the holster and into the tub.. however I didn't realize it at the time as the motor was running, stirring up the water.
About 20 minutes went by until I realized that my BB was in the tub.
When I fished the BB out, the screen was blank and the unit was ever so lightly vibrating.... I got that sinking feeling... it was dead.
Heres what I did to get her up and running:
1) immediately wipped off the water with a paper towel
2) removed the battery
3) used my compressor and air gun to spray off as much water as I could.. took atleast a half an hour to get zero water from squirting out of the seams
4) used a hair dryer on the coolest setting to blow air in the back of the unit... left it on for an hour and a half
at this point I put the battery back in the 7290, it started up, took about 10 minutes to get going, however, it still wanted to vibrate continuously.
5) I then found some of those Silica Gel bags that come in new electronics equipment, put 2 of them with my BB in a zip-lock bag over night.
Then when I started it up this morning, it worked perfectly. And as an added bonus, it's sparkling clean!

Had a similar experience with my Blackberry and an unflushed toilet.
Urine does not do a BB well!
But I actually pulled it out, it was vibrating same way.
Took out the battery, openned the back and RINSED it all out with distilled water real good.
Pick up above, blow out the water, hair dryer, etc.
Left off 3 days.
Turned on. PERFECT!

You did the most important thing first, that is removing the battery quickly. It is not the water that will kill the electronics it is the water and the current going through the device that shorts things out. I had a similar experience with a my daughters cell phone when it got wet. Pulled the battery out and let it air dry for 24-48 hours. Acutally placed on top of my 21 inch monitor so the heat that comes out of it would help. Then hooked up the battery and the phone has been working now for about 3 months with no problems. Good Save!!

NICE! A friend of mine took his 7250 in a Sauana one time and his keyboard didn't do too well as certain keys didn't work. was fun watching him trying to type. A few days later all was well.

My mom had a similar incident with her cell phone...she forgot to take it out of her pants pocket and ran it through the washer. She took the battery out and saved it with a hairdryer also. Funny thing is, she had ocean themed wallpaper, and until the screen completely dried out in a few days, it looked very realistic!

I did the same thing. Mine never came back totally...scroll wheel was intermitent. Felt really bad about turning it in to tech support and lying about having dropped it in the hot tub.....

Is it true that by eating the Silica Gel it may make you smart enough to stop dropping your phone in massive amounts of water?

It happen to my company's pager too, pager was in the washing machine thru out the whole washing and spinning cycle, I just pull out the AAA battery and let it air dry for couple days, and it came back to life.
