Default what to disable while roaming

Please Login to Remove!

i am going to the states very soon, and do not want any data charges or anything, so i did a search and i set the gps and data services both to"off when roaming" so just to make sure when i set it to that it will not use any data.

Are there any other things that i should change be4 i get a huge bill?

thanks!

Just disabling the network connection should do it. GPS does not use data.

That should do the trick. If you're lucky, you'll be able to get all your e-mail messages, and even use Blackberry IM, through a wi-fi connection. I found I was able to find and 'connect' to various open wi-fi networks, but only rarely did I get the all-important green 'check' opposite the wi-fi line in 'manage connections'. I still haven't found out if I have a faulty 8900, but I find it extremely difficult to get this green check when I am roaming, and so very difficult to get my e-mail messages. I do know that I'm not alone, and I've seen several contributions on the forum about this, but no solution -- so don't be surprised if you can't get connected to wi-fi. Maybe there'll be a software update that addresses the issue soon... Bon voyage!

Do you mean network connections or data services? I am interested in knowing how best to use the device while roaming.

I have an unlocked phone. Can I also just buy a local sim and use the blackberry like a normal phone (without edge data) while away on vacation? And maybe surf the web a little through wifi or something.
