It amazes me everytime I go back and look at this thread how many different countries are represented here on the forums. I don't know why, but for some reason I've always thought of BlackBerry's as being a very American gadget. (Even though, and please correct me if I'm wrong, RIM is a Canadian product.) Maybe I just have my Red White and Blue glasses on too much of the time.

Keep the responses coming!

Do I need it: Hell yes! Made do with a cell phone before, but this has made me 500% more effecient. I send myself at least 25 e-mails a day with reminders, etc.

Only drawback: Completed To-Do tasks don't automatically drop from BB.

Don't really need it for work...people think I'm weird because I reply to emails at all hours of the day and night. But when something comes up they're glad they can reach someone. Been using it for about 2 weeks now. Never thought I'd have a BB but Alltel dropped the data price, so I bit. Biggest headache is that I can't sync my calendar with my outlook at work and IT just looks at me like I'm a lunatic....

I don't really NEED a BB either...but it just makes life easier. Been using it for about a week now and I'm hooked. Had a Q for the previous 8 months and thought it was the dogs balls. For messaging and email, nothing can compare to a BB...and here we are.

Bought the first blackberry over a year ago after my pda died, personal use but don't think that I could ever be without it. Upgraded to the 8703e from the 7130e 3 days ago, nice unit, but have had to learn to type all over again. Wish it had Voice Dial

Need it ? Yes. I have a hearing impairment that makes phones hard to use. The demands of social and personal life required me to be more accessible. So I got talked into getting a mobile phone though I never had one before, and I picked up a Blackberry. It does its job, is rock solid, and has worked around the world without a problem (Tmobile unlocked it for free).
